How can I stop one click ordering and go back to shopping cart?

For eBooks, you can't

Artist says:
When that happens, I just replenish my gift card balance by buying myself an e-gift cert.

CatChat says:
So take the gift card off your account until you're ready to use it.

**Meya** says:
CatChat, there is no way to do that.

I have corresponded with Amazon and they were very helpful. The card is 'off' my account when I order other things, but they said there is no way, on the one-click, to avoid it being used.

Can't you just mathematically KNOW the amount of the gift card and spend THAT much when you're ready to buy? Or, as Artist said, buy your books, then buy yourself an equivalent gift card.

One Click for Kindle is a horrible idea. I have purchased things by mistake, and used the wrong credit card, and had things shipped to the wrong address because of 1-Click. I do not trust it. Now I know it will not be shipped to the wrong address, but now I have to go in and delete all my credit cards every time I buy something on Kindle.

So because you can't keep track of your own credit cards, 1-click is a bad idea and shouldn't exist...
Thanks for the genius idea!

You should do what the rest of us do when using the one-click----that is watch what you are doing.

You can check which card is being used for your one-click. But that would take a lot of time on your part and very difficult for you so I wouldn't try to do it if I were you. I check all the time--it is easy for me :O

If you have that big a problem keeping track of your spending & credit cards, maybe you should think about taking all credit cards off your account & put the credit card info in for the card you want to use each time & then take it off after making the purchase(s) you wish to make at the time.

And here you are, back 3 months later, still complaining. Why don't you wait to apply the gift cards to your account until you're ready to spend them on something? How hard would that be?

Pogonia says:
Wow! Sorry if I came back and irritated you. Won't do it again. I didn't know you could let them hang out there that long w/o applying them. I did get my something big, but am going to start trying to build gift cards up for something else now. Maybe I can open a new folder in my e-mail and it will be okay to just hold them indefinitely to apply them to Amazon when I need them? Meanwhile, I did purchase a couple of books while I can.

I keep the codes in a spreadsheet on my computer til I'm ready to use them.

Thanks. I just never thought about holding on to them. :) If it was mentioned before, it must have gone right over my head. Could be my Asperger's kicking in. lol

all you have to do is go to your Manage Your Content and Devices page (link under the Your Account menu at the upper right of every Amazon webpage), log in, click Settings, and click Edit payment options and make sure your preferred card is listed there

there's no reason to delete cards

Or just open a SEPARATE account for buying physical items.

Simple, don't add the gift cards until you are ready to use them.
