Did you ever deregister it? If you do that & then register it again to your account, it will do that. You can change the name again, but I don't think you can change it back to a previous name.

If you haven't deregistered it, then I have no idea why & maybe someone else can help.

You're posting here as Naomi. If the Kindle is registered to this account, that's why it says Naomi's Kindle. If you're not Naomi, why are you posting from her amazon.com account?

You can REregister a previously registered Kindle to the same account, and it will retain whatever name you had assigned it previously.

But an additional Kindle cannot ever be named exactly what some other Kindle or app was named, even if you've deregistered the previous device.

Thanks. That's good, because it didn't let me awhile back & I liked the name, so now I can go change it. =)

Yes, you can. As long as the old one has been de-registered, you can name a new one the same. I know someone who has lost two Kindles (don't ask); each of the replacements has been named the same as the original. You just can't have two devices with exactly the same name at the same time.

Oh! Okay -- I was misremembering. I know people had said that the system told them they had to pick another name. It was probably that they had old apps named that, still on there.

we have no idea what you are really asking ?

- which Kindle do you have ?
- where did you get it ?
- what name did you personally assign to this device ?

what does your kindle say its name is?

I definitely gave my Kindle Keyboard the same name when I had it replaced under warranty. I'd only had it 3 weeks!

Any time you have to reset your device or there is an update sometimes you will see the duplicate name as you posted it. You can delete one of them and just rename the other one. When it is confusing on which name is the one that is working, I will send a different book to each one and see which one comes in on the sync. Then you know which name is working. After you have figured that out then just delete the one that isn't. After you have done that you can rename the remaining one to anything you want. I have several devices and have named them according to what they are such as ipad, surface, my cousin's name, etc, makes it easier to figure out what device I am working with. Amazon when they send you a device it is automatically named with your first name and if you have ordered a second device then it does the same name with a number.
