The Ghost of Blackwood Lane by Greg Ensien was posted as free from Amazon. Deal was to end 5/29/14. Clicked on item and it was stated as purchased at. $7.99. Tried to cancel order. Hope it went thru.

well, first where did you read that it was free until 5/29? It is free to borrow if you are a Prime Account member and own a kindle device.

If you click the buy and it clearly states $7.99 on the page then ..... well you need to go to your MYK to return the book.

You always pay the price on the BUY button, even though you've read somewhere that it's free.

Oops, no price on the Buy button, but you always pay the amount that's indicated as being the "Kindle Price."

Someone else on the product page is complaining today about the same issue:

It may be a genuine Amazon error, best to call Customer Service.

It was free on the 28th. Sometimes they only stay free for a very short time and you have to pay attention. I've seen some free for less than an hour I was not charged for this book.

I was not charged for mine either on 4/28. I do not remember how long it was supposed to be free.

I'm not sure if they put the price back and hope people keep buying them or what. I usually am pretty careful before I actually buy the book.

"...hope people keep buying them..."

Well, yeah, I think that's the main idea. I think the freebie time-window is to get the book out there and get people talking about it. But ultimately, they'd like people to pay to read it, yes.

I also got it for free on 4/28.

I received an email from BookBub that does state "Deal Ends 5/29".

Here is the disclaimer at the bottom of that email:
"All prices were verified by BookBub when this email was sent, but prices may change without notice so please verify that the deal is still available before downloading. For free Kindle books, confirm that Amazon's "Kindle Price" is still $0.00. Some deals may not be available outside the United States. "

Debi says:
It was probably just a typo and should have said 4/29.

I remember see the date as 5/29/14. Could have been an error on their part.

Yes, it probably was a typo. BookBub states that the deal has expired.
