My Kindle Fire keeps loading the phone version of Netflix and not the updated one. My Kindle Fire is at 6.2 and Netflix is at 1.5.2. I've rebooted the device, uninstalled Netflix, and reinstalled it a few times. What can I do to fix this?

Are you sure you have the correct app? When I went to download the Netflix app there were three of them. If you go to the App Store on Amazon the correct one is listed.

Plus you have to have a Netflix account to use the Netflix app. I know that sounds simple but some people seem to think that if you download the app you have Netflix available to you.

If you still can not get it to work, contact Customer Service. Look in the Customer Service Forum, near the top of the first page you will find a thread that will help you with that.

Yes, I'm pretty tech savvy. After doing a little more research, I do have the latest version. It appears that the Netflix app is opening the phone version and not the tablet version. It should be opening this version, http://www.droidmatters.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/netflix-tablets-290x160.png, but it's opening it like this... http://www.androidrevolution.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Netflix-Android.jpg.

This is the app you should have from the Amazon store.
Netflix

That's the one I have.

Call Amazon then. It wasn't clear to me that you had downloaded from the Amazon app store.

Have you tried deleting clearing your cache and redownloading? I have the same app and it works fine for me.

Are you referring the browsers cache? If not, where do I clear the cache? Thanks!

I have the same issue as the original poster. Any other thoughts as to why my Netflix interface changed?

I was on the phone with Amazon for 30+ minutes and they finally gave up. They told me to call Netflix, but I know that won't help.

Calling Netflix would ensure there is no problem with the account or your log-in information.

I still can not figure out why I have the old Netflix interface now. I had the new UI when I first got my Kindle, but now i dont. I have the newest Netflix apk from the Amazon market. It seems to have started right around the time of the Kindle update. I am baffled. Any thoughts?

A shot in the dark..is your fire set for desktop or mobile display? I ask because when I changed mine to mobile websites I visited detected it and gave me mobile versions. Good luck!

I set up a new netflix account, went to the kindle fire app store, downloaded the app and had no problems watching a movie.

It may be that Netflix updated the app to use the mobile rather than tablet version pending a fix fir the scrolling bug that many of us noticed.

Jason Hansen says:
@Robert: I have the browser to choose automatically.

@S. Blackmon: The app plays fine, but the app is loading the phone version and not the new tablet version.

@S. Yelvington: That's a possibility, so I'm hoping when the app is updated, it'll fix my issue.

Other than this issue, I'm happy with my Kindle Fire purchase.

Call Netflix CS. They want you to subscribe and they are the ones who actually provided the apps to Amazon App Store. They will bend over backward to get you signed up, where Amazon has much less skin in the game.

I've done that and have been a Netflix customer for years.

i guess i'm not understanding. if the app works fine (as in you are watching movies), then what's the problem? my phone is droid and so is the fire so it's safe to assume that both probably run the same version of the app.

S. Blackmon: Please look at this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUJdZlPOif4. Do you see how it's loading a tablet interface? Mine is not loading the tablet interface, it is loading the phone version of the Netflix app. Not once did I say it was broke. I would just like the same Netflix experience that 99.9% of other Kindle Fire owners are having. What's wrong with that? They do run the same version, 1.5.2. However, the app should know when it's being opened on a phone versus a tablet. Please read Netflix's own blog entry about their tablet update. http://blog.netflix.com/2011/11/new-experience-now-available-for-all.html

youtube is blocked.

but now i understand why you're miffed. i'm new to droid and until the fire, never used the netflix app.

i quickly loaded it on my bionic and i see how they are different.

it's kind of how the audible for blackberry totally sucked compared to the droid app. glad i finally made the switch.

OK, I just got the Kindle Fire. I am NOT very tech savvy so need something simple. I have had Netflix for a while, but am considering just subscribing to Amazon Prime and dropping Netflix. I'm unsure of the best route...any recommendations?

@Jason Hansen I am having the same issue as you and I have no idea what to do. I noticed this started right after the 6.2 update so i'm assuming something happened there. When I get home I may do a factory reset to see if that changes anything.

@Kevin: I enjoy Netflix. It has a lot of kids shows and my kids enjoy it. I have a Roku 2 XS in our living room and will stay loyal to Netflix. I still rent movies from Amazon here and there as well.

@Christopher: That may be it. When I got my Kindle Fire, it was already at version 6.2. I found that surprising, because 6.2 wasn't announced until two days later.

This is the app you need -
Netflix

If you just searched the appstore for Netflix instead of Netflix for Android, you may have gotten the wrong one. Have customer service delete the wrong app.
