What are the best routers at a medium price range to run a new kindle and use for computer and streaming video?

Any N router will do. I do recommend the main brands because they are usually easier to set up and have great customer service. We've had Cisco, Linksys and Netgear (that I remember). Right now we're running with a Netgear and a Cisco sub.

If you don't know what you are doing, many people get routers from their internet providers. That way setting up the network and troubleshooting is not your problem. Usually there is a small monthly fee for this.

Most people could set up their own network unless they run into any issues. Then it helps to have good tech support or a knowledgeable friend to help

I bought mine at Costco and it works fine.

But please, Please, PLEASE! Save the little card with the passcode on it. Put it in the slot on the bottom of the router...tape it down. Once you've used it to log on with this Kindle, you'll promptly forget it and you'll need it when you get another Kindle.

I strongly suggest not calling your ISP for a router. They'll make you a deal like they did one of my friends. They charged him $200 and gave him a G router. Those have been out of date for a few years now and this was just last year. It'll work with most things but it's very slow and it's range is very poor.

Another friend bought his own for $25 and asked me to set it up for him. I was going to but by the time I got to his house he'd already done it. It really is that easy. If you can turn on the computer you can set up a router. :)

So you decide. $200 for an almost useless router or $25 for a good fast up-to-date router. Tough choice. :)

Service must really vary from ISP to ISP. I had some connection issues a year or so ago and my ISP in So. Calif., Charter, told me my router was ok but my 5 + year old modem wouldn't handle the higher speeds offered today. They gave me a free, new Cisco DOCSIS 3.0 modem which I easily installed with their telephone support. My problem with dropped connections, downloads and streaming videos disappeared. I was told that such problems can be related to either or both the router and modem. Good luck.

Not all internet providers are the same. I rent a combination cable modem/router from my service provider for $5 a month and it supports the higher speed N with no problems.
