Don't get me wrong, I'm a loyal Amazon customer, especially for Amazon Kindle books; but I find it aggravating that when I browse the Westerns of their book section that there are all these Romance and what I guess would be called "Exotic" novels. What's up with that?

T. Cook says:
"What's up with that?"

Publishers branding their books in multiple genres or genres they think they belong in.

I think you mean "erotic" not "exotic." Unless the books involve Western Africa and leopards.

There are a lot of things about the kindle store I find aggravating.

CBRetriever says:
it's the same with fantasy and sci-fi - it's filled with paranormal romances, vampires and werewolves

The Blade says:
When I get into the list of Western genre books, I then type "-romance -erotica" in the search box. The romance and erotic novels novels are removed. If you want to remove a particular author or series you can use the same process, "-l'amour" for example.

Hope that helps

Twostory says:
Thank you Hombre, when I tried this I found you must place a comma "," after the word "western" for this to work.

westerns, -romance

Gracias Hombre. I'll give that a try.
(And Ms. Mayhem, you are correct, I did mean erotic. When I made that post I was at work and needed to get back to it. Because of the rush I couldn't come up with the correct genre name, especially for one I'm not familiar with. But I did appreciate your comment. It was funny.)

Greg says:
The "-romance -erotica" does weed out a lot of them -unfortunately not all but about down to less than 3 on a page which is an improvement.
However, I did see that this method did put a "If you're looking for romance erotica, here are 69 other selections to explore" at the bottom of my search page. WTH, a dude just can't get a break... LOL

Save a horse. Ride a cowboy.

For that imagery? You're welcome.

I think he/she's mixing genres: "As for gallantry, this man's armor was never rus"

there's no armor in Westerns

I am not a big Western fan, but do have a few in my collection. Shop by author, rather than subject. Max Brand, and Zane Grey, would be worth a look.

Eva L. Doan says:
having trouble finding books that are westerns with the vulgar language and occasional sex. not the romantic type just more realistic. looking for title and/or author suggestions.

Greg says:
Eva- Ever read Robert B. Parker's Cole and Hitch Westerns? I think that's what you're looking for. The first one is Apolossa and it was made into a movie.
