I have the new Kindle Fire which I love. But I can't figure out how to highlight something that goes onto the next page. Changing font size etc would be a pain in the butt. Is there a way to do this easily? If not, there should be.

No, you can't do this on the Fire or Touch. I agree that it should be there.

This is definitely a must-have feature, I do this a lot on my old kindle. To me it feels like a feature has been taken away with the Fire.

I just bought the Kindle Touch, having previously owned the Kindle, second generation, model. Highlighting is one the top 3 features of e-reading for me. That I cannot do something on the Kindle, third gen model, that I could easily do on the Kindle, second gen model, is absurd. The Amazon Design team, I assert, placed expedience over quality in producing the Touch. VERY disappointing!

Please implement this feature! If not I will set fire to my Fire!

As a workaround, if your selection is less than one page long, you can put the top of your selection at the top of the page by the use of the "Go to" feature (when you go to a particular location, that location is at the top of the page), so you should be able to highlight the whole thing.

If your selection is more than one page long, you can reduce the font size and hopefully reduce it to one page.

The Fire is my first Kindle, so I was not used to doing it any other way. I just highlight to the end of the page, then go to the next page and continue to highlight. Not a problem for me.

I highlight all the time, without problems.

What I did notice was how difficult it is to highlight on my Baby Kindle ($79 version) once I got used to the smooth Fire. You have to press several buttons to get the highlight going, and then it appears as an underline, but only after you scroll down line by line. Perhaps I am doing this wrong, but it is not as easy as the Fire.

Interesting how the first experience really colors the experiences that follow! Those of us who had another version find the Fire tedious, while I started with the Fire and then went to the baby, and find the Fire so easy!!!

Agree - the older version of the touch had a much better highlighting feature than the current Kindle Fire :(

The Touch and the Fire aren't even comparable devices. One is a reader the other a media consumption device.

There's a VERY EASY workaround for this: Highlight the first word of the split segment you wish to highlight. Go to NOTES and find that single word highlight. Touch that highlight and you will be brought back to the same section with your first word now at the top of the page. Re-highlight the first word along with the rest of the section you wish to highlight.

Read on..... :)

Thank you Dennis! This is definitely the easiest way. I get so sick of having to change font sizes then trying to guess actual location numbers. Why in the world they can't just enable highlighting across pages psgesis beyond me! Thx! :)

You can also adjust the word size so it will all be on 1 page.

Contributors to this thread all make valid points about highlighting...however, it is up to the Kindle team to fix this very real issue for their customers.
