Today there is a coupon on Amazon Local for $30 off the Kindle Fire HD 8.9, WiFi, 16GB.

I don't know if its only for NYC but I have posted the link below.

Going to place my order when I get home, once I find a case for it.

And how many are going to see "Limited quantity available" or that there is a cut-off date?

I just checked the coupon and it expires DECEMBER 10, 2013.

My concern (other than size) is that I think this is a relatively old model. So perhaps Amazon won't update the software or other bugs.
My other concern is mylack of knowledge: I have never had a tablet and keep on resisting deals (and steals).
My needs are basic: internet, email, movies, books. Never gaming. And, it took me a while to figure out APPs doesn't stand for Apple......
Thoughts?

you think last years model is an old model? dang, guess you always buy the newest everything every year? not being snooty but it seems odd to hear that when talking about a model one year old

"My concern (other than size) is that I think this is a relatively old model."
Is it too big, too small?
This is not "a relatively old model". This model just came out last year.

Ritz - most tablets are very intuitive - that's the point! I don't think you will have any issues. Realize - the "old" tablet is still pretty high-power, has a great screen, and will do all that you are talking about without any issues. And this is a great price, especially considering another $30 off. Plus, because it IS a year old - Amazon has worked out the "bugs" and "software issues" and updated accordingly. I find the OS very stable and issue free.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts.
Good point about the bugs being worked out (no purple haze.....).

Great idea...I like the idea of "little boy"...that's what I call my grandson when he is being a pain!!! When I upgrade to the 64 gig...I will have to think of an appropriate name.
