When tapping on the keyboard letters show up that I did not tap. If I go back and delete them, the same letters I deleted show up again when I begin tapping or some new letters/symbols appear. Does anyone else have this problem?

No.

S. Prewitt says:
That is autocorrect in action. You can turn it off in Settings, or better yet learn how to use it. Above the keyboard you should see a list of predicted words, plus the exact text string you have typed so far (at far left). If you don't click on one of those words before hitting a space or period or other punctuation mark, the word in yellow will automatically be inserted.

I assume you are referring to the keyboard on the KindleFireHD display screen... it could be that you have a fault with the device? I wonder if you could bypass this by using an add-on keyboard? Some in my family use the bluetooth add-on keyboard instead of the one that is part of the Kindle device. Amazon sells a Kindle 8.9 inch case with the additional keyboard as part of the device.. this can be removed when not needed. Did u look at the FAQ or Forum comments/discussions on this?

That just happened to me! I went to mobile.weightwatchers.com and tried logging in and my keyboard went crazy! The way I got around it was to hold my stylus over the letter until a box popped up that allowed me to select the letter that was associated with that space. I got logged in, but haven't tried doing anything else there. I think it may be the site...because my keyboard is working fine as I write this. Also, I have my autocorrect off, (I just checked) so that's not it.

All of a sudden my Kindle 8.9" HD does not allow me to enter more than 1 letter in the search field in such search engines as Google, Bing, etc. I can enter full addresses in the URL address bar, but when I pull up Google, etc., and begin entering my search criteria, each subequent letter replaces the previous one. For example - if I want to enter the word "Ball" it would be such that I enter the letter, "b" and then "a" but at that point, the "b" goes away and all that is there is the "a" and so on. I spoke with Kindle support and they have been unable to assist me. It does not seem like a keyboard issue otherwise it would be a problem when entering text in other fields / applications.

I have had the OP's same problem a few times. "O" types a "P", etc. Usually, closing the window and re-opening it works.

Thank you - I did have to do this and it fixed it but I wasn't happy about losing my bookmarks and history.

CBRetriever says:
a reboot would have fixed it

fully charged, unplugged, hold power on for 30 seconds ignoring any messages, then turn it back on

Have you tried rebooting the device? Hold the power button for 30 full seconds. Release. Press power again. Wait.

(Make sure you have at least 50% charge and take the charger out of the port before rebooting.)

Also, before you do all that, try clearing cache, history, and cookies, then close all browser tabs, go Home, and reopen browser.

Dude! This is *NOT* Customer Service! We are all just customers. Edit your post and take that off RIGHT NOW!

Then, when you have REMOVED your phone number from this very public forum (did no one teach you this?!?), try contacting Customer Service.

Click the Help crumb at the top of this page, then Contact Us. Fill in the form and choose Call Us. The phone will ring in seconds.

And DO NOT post your phone number on a public forum again, young lady.
