So I ordered a Verizon HDX for some of the extra features but don't plan on putting it on the VZ network right away as I have a 5gb your spot with my Palm pre plus.
So will the AT&T HDX work on T-Mobile?
Would be nice for some identical use though.

I have the ATT version of HDX 7. I tried and failed to get the 200MB plan with T-Mobile. Apparently the IMEI associated with my HDX is not recognized as a tablet in T-Mobile system. T-Mobile could set me up with a regular tablet plan using a generic IMEI number, but not the 200MB plan.

I believe if you have the ATT version, then you need to use the ATT network. I suggest a phone call to Kindle support. Click on help at the top or bottom of any Amazon page and then the contact us button on the next page. Answer the questions and the correct contact info is shown.

Have you replaced the AT&T SIM with a T-Mobile SIM?

I had replaced the ATT SIM with a T-Mobile nano SIM. It showed T-Mobile LTE full signal bar on the top. I had one Mayday call with Amazon and two calls with T-Mobile with different reps. No, Kindle Fire HDX is not eligible for the free T-Mobile 200MB plan, I was told by the 2nd T-Mobile rep.

Sorry, this is a late posting, but yes the 7" Kindle HDX (AT&T model) works perfectly on T-Mobile when you buy the T-Mobile nano sim card. We are using one right now. It is extremely easy to set it up.

Hi DesertStar, did you get the free 200MB plan? How did you set it up, calling CS or just following the web instructions after installing the T-Mobile SIM card? Thanks.

I tried myself. I inserted a nano T-mobile SIM card. The browser automatically redirected to T-mobile site for sign-up of the data plans including the 200MB plan. So T-mobile recently added support of Kindle HDX on the 200MB plan. Pretty cool.

Is it the HDX 7" or the HDX 8.9" ?
T mobile site indicates Kindle HD supported (both models), as well as Kindle HDX 8.9 , but not the 7"

lawhawk at XDA-Developers has advice along these lines.

"All you need to do is use an active SIM card from T-Mobile and then change the APN settings to T-Mobile's data network settings. "
The settings are posted in the link above. I have not tried it yet as I just ordered mine but the advice makes sense.

Please post your results. Thanks.

Changing the APN turned out to be unnecessary on the AT&T HDX 7". I put in the nano SIM from TMobile and navigated to activate prepaid plans on the TMobile site. The page for data activation advised me to turn off the wireless and come back to activate. Once I did this I was on the LTE service with no adjustment to APN on my part. I just filled out the form for free data and the plan was active.

You're making it more complicated than it is. Insert the t-mobile card, turn off wifi, then turn on cellular. The SIM card takes care of the rest.

Does it work at 4g/LTE or is it crippled on T-Mobile? Thanks

I don't know. I live in an EDGE speed area.

I purchased the hdx 7 LTE ( att) for use on tmobile. data didn't work for me at first. possible solution here.
opened the box, turned on, added to wifi, let it self update.
when i turned off > removed the att sim card that came pre-installed > add tmobile nano sim, it wouldn't work. I would just receive a tmobile logo in status bar, but no LTE indicator.

I performed a manufacturer reset. and got a tmobile LTE indicator immediately. it worked after that.
