What is the difference between a Kindle Fire 2nd generation and Kindle Fire previous generation? Is it the Same thing? Is the Kindle Fire HD the replacement?

CBRetriever says:
Kindle Fire 1st generation was US only and had no language capabilities
The 2nd generation added language capabilities and was available internationally
The Kindle Fire HD is the low end current version

so basically all three are/were the entry level Fires of their vintage
