Bradley says:
I used my mayday function to ask about why my screen had a subtle yellowness to it, as i am quick to notice variances in a color pallet.

The mayday technician asked me questions like if the yellow was focused or near the edge of the screen, my answer to both questions was no. He then went on to explain that the yellow in the screen is to "ease reading" and "improve battery life". I'm completely fine with those facts, in fact, i remember straining my eyes to read against white backgrounds on my iphone.

But it does bother me a bit that i wont be getting pure whites, i want to use my kindle to watch movies too, and take pictures, all kinds of things. I wonder if this yellow effect is going to effect those applications.

So what do you all think of this, have you noticed it? How subtle is it on your 8.9 inch?

"... as i am quick to notice variances in a color pallet..."

Use that line often, do you?

Yes, in fact, so there will be no question as to what I'm poking fun at.

You are going to walk around taking pictures with an device this big but you are concerned about not getting pure whites? If you notice subtle variances of color, I can't really imagine this is the device to use for picture taking.

Okay, whatever. I just hope no one gets angry with you blocking their view as you hold up a cafeteria tray to take a picture. My smart phone takes picture. I also carry a camera with me when I'm on vacation.

Why on earth wouldn't you take around a separate (and better) camera, if colour subtleties bother you? The 8MP camera in the HDX 8.9" is hardly top-of-the-line.

But in any case, I think you missed the point of something that the CS rep told you. You said they explained that 'the yellow in the screen is to "ease reading" and "improve battery life".'

In other words, it's specifically for display purposes and may well be a setting solely within the kindle app. Have you actually *watched* any movies, to see if you find the screen whites look yellow to you?

See? There you go again! Complimenting me on my youthfulness. You are a honey-trap, you are.

>>>Are you suggesting that i should carry around a separate camera for taking my casual pictures of Europe?

You've heard the saying about using the proper tool for the job, haven't you?

Bradley says:
After speaking with another rep and mentioning the same thing, she claimed it sounded like a defect in my kindle, that i was able to see anything other than a popping white on say, googles homepage, was completely abnormal. So what i will probobly end up doing is swapping this kindle out and finding out if it is in fact a defect. In which case would be really stupid.

Mom or sister?

Dee, the only people I've seen not get a satisfactory answer from Amazon (not kindle - kindle is a device brand, not a company name) are ones who come across in this forum as intransigent. The inference is that it's their intransigence which affects the response they get.

But as far as this thread goes, Folina made a humorous response noting a spelling error, Peachy pointed out that perhaps, given Bradley's own assertion about his colour pickiness, a Fire mightn't be the best device for taking pictures, and Bradley responded next with the words "pre-pubescent troll". Frankly, I find it rather outrageous that you took it upon yourself to apologise for *their* rudeness to *him*.

(*thinking*) Spelling? No, I was ribbing the OP about his special colr-variant-sensing eyes. It must be his superpower. I think I'd pick flying.

Well, there you go! I thought it was "colour pallet" you were stirring him about. Still, I got the tone of your post correct, so the point remains: the rudeness began with Bradley.

In case you haven't noticed Net Nanny Dee, our boy Bradley was quite rude on his own first.

And yet it still compels you to reply. DNFTT.

Sorry to miss the banter. I didn't mark this to follow & I read a book (imagine that, I rarely do that, being a nanny police to these discussions, :-ţ ). Actually I rarely do respond, as I really don't know anyone. I actually prefer to chase book deals, so on that note.....

My apologies, perhaps my super sensors were off that day in detecting the nuance of meanings behind the comments. I'll have to work on my lack of skill there, lol, or just myob. After all, there is always something I'd rather do, like read , my favorite thing.
Enjoy your day!
Dee
