People magazine taking away digital editions for Kindle Fire

I can't download People magazine to my Kindle Fire anymore and it has me highly frustrated. I have a subscription through the publisher for which I paid $44.50/yr. I used the People app on my Kindle to download issues every week and it worked great. Apparently People magazine decided to take this away, and I'm informed I can only get digital access on "other devices."

I'm ticked that they made this change. I am told I can subscribe through Amazon and still view the magazine digitally on my apparently archaic device, but the cost is $110/yr. Right. More than double the cost, thanks.

Anyone else frustrated by this? Advice?

The publishers of People magazine are the ones who removed the app and the access to their magazine. You need to complain to them.

Weird..... tho I do not have a paper subscription .... I did not use the app to view the digital editions. Possible that they may have changed something to eliminate the need for an app?

Just went to my fire, to the "store" and checked on People. It says : Already a subscriber? Verify your subscription to get the Kindle edition free. Click that and another screen shows up for you to enter all your information to verify your paper subscription.

I did complain to People. They didn't give me a solution, that's for sure. Part of their reply:

"If you subscribed directly through us, the publisher, you will still have access to your past issues in the app, but you will not be able to access future issues on your device using your magazine digital account. You will continue to have access to the digital edition on other devices. We apologize for any inconvenience."

Complain before actually "reading" the page.

When I go to the People product page on my laptop and click "Learn More about Subscriptions" i am brought to a page that says:

Link an Existing Magazine Subscription to Your Kindle Subscription

You may be eligible to receive the Kindle edition at no additional cost after you link your magazine subscription to your Amazon account on your Kindle Fire. Access to digital versions of your magazine subscription is determined by the publisher.

Note: The following subscriptions are eligible for digital access:

People (and a slew of others)

On your device tap newstand then click Store .... go to people... click the link under Already a Subscriber .... enter your info and you will be able to view the digital version on your fire.

ETA: you will then be able to d/l the current and any new issues directly to your device.

"Amazon has changed the look of your magazine on the Original Kindle Fire. Moving forward, your Kindle magazine editions will look exactly like the printed magazine edition so you no longer need the app to access future issues. Instructions for how to continue enjoying the magazine are below."

Apparently my instructions on how to continue enjoying the magazine would be to buy a newer Kindle. :(

That would be a 1st Generation Kindle Fire. I have one of those but it isn't registered at this moment. Let me get it registered and see what I find when I go to the newsstand on the device.

For some reason my 1st gen fire doesn't want to connect to my wifi. I am not able to view on that device.

Hopefully someone else will be able to check to see if it appears on their device and where to locate it to help you.
