How do I delete a book from kindle fire?

Posted on Nov 16, 2011 12:07:42 PM PST
I was trying to figure this one out as well and could not find anything on amazon to help out. Go to your bookcase section on the kindle fire. Hold your finger on the book you want to remove until a little screen pops up. It will say add to favorites or remove from device. Just click remove from device. :)

Good find! Have you figured out a way to transfer 'controversial' titles from the book case to the archive, e.g., as on earlier kindle devices?

I have only been able to do this for one book - the options were download or favorites, remove from device did not show up - and when I chose the remove from device option it moved the book to the front of my carosel. I've been reading all the posts hoping someone will find a way to do this. Can't get through to Customer Service.

I'm thinking the remove from device option isn't there if you're in the cloud section of the device. That's where it just reads from your total library. Notice that if you click on a book from the cloud section it will start to download it to your device, which then gives you the option if you want to remove it from the device. I'm hoping that you don't have to delete from the total library to section off personal books you do not wish to publicly show up in the book case. I'll try and figure it out and give you all an update. :)

I'll see if I can figure it out and let you know. If it's not an option they should make it one. I know I don't want all my books to be up on the bookcase main page for display. ;) lol

This inability to manage/keep contents out of carousel is brewing as a big issue, per other posts. So far, I have not seen anyone who has a solution.

Thank you, You're right. The Carousel is in the cloud and when put on device I can remove the book back to the cloud. This I can live with. Thanks so much>

I couldn't remove the books from the carousel, but if you go to BOOKS from the top menu, and then hold your finger on the book cover image, a popup will give you the option to remove it from the device.

Unfortunately the carousel looks like it is both a history of what you've done (web pages, video, etc.) AND an archive. Maybe it will go away eventually? Does nyone know how many things are listed in the carousel? It looks like everything (I counted 350 items on mine -- gee I need to get a life!).

Tap & Hold the book you want to remove and after a couple of seconds, it's going to give you an option "Remove from device"

Things in the carousel cannot be removed.

Ok, I still cant remove a book. I have no need at all for a dictionary and I cant remove it. The only option I get is to add to favorites.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 19, 2011 1:39:58 PM PST
The dictionary would have to be removed from the online storage. If you are only getting the option to -add to favorites- then it's not technically downloaded to the device so it's not taking up space. To remove a book from your online acct. (it's permanent so be careful!) log in to your amazon.com acct. from a computer. Scroll down to digital content. Click on manage your kindle. The next page that comes up should list all the digital book purchases you have made. On the very far right is an action button. Click on the button and delete from library. Again, this is a permanent removal. Meaning if you want these items again, you need to repurchase them. On your kindle fire, touch the little gear icon at top to bring up the screen that allows you to change your volume, screen brightness, etc. and then click on the sync button to refresh the Kindle.

I.M. Opine says:
Two options. First press and hold the on the book. Once the polyp menu appears select delete. It will still show up in your carousel. So folks will still be able to see your kindle porn. To get rid of this you have to log into the kindle via the web site, goto manage your kindle, and delete the book there as well. It takes a few minutes to take effect.

If you delete the book from your kindle library online, it deletes it forever and then you have to purchase again. Please don't leave that important little bit of information out.

Edit: The books continue in the trash. Is not possible to delete for this:

"Amazon MP3s, Kindle books, Amazon Shorts and other digital items cannot be deleted from Your Media Library in case you want to re-download your purchases. "

Is there any way at all to delete books from the carousel? Because if I don't find out a way soon, my mom will see these 2 books and she will kill me!!!!!

Posted on Dec 2, 2011 7:25:22 PM PST
She should be proud she raised you up with the ability to read, and the ability now, to discern what you shouldn't be reading. If she kills you, you have plenty of witnesses..

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 3, 2011 6:55:55 AM PST
I agree with Meredith. We're all witnesses! lol

Ms. C. Haro says:
hello! I finally figured it out :) log in to your amazon account, go to manage your kindle, then books, select the book, push delete book, confirm with a YES and it will delete from your account. Once you have deleted the books from your account Shut off your kindle and it will refresh and the book will no longer be in your carrousel or device or Account.
