Has Amazon come up with a way to sort books on the kindle fire. This should be a no brainer.

I don't have a Fire, but on my PW, I can sort by recent, author, and title. I bet the same applies to the Fire.

The Fire does not have any ability to create collections like you can on the eink readers. I don't like this problem. But I would rather be able to sort them on my MYK pages. I don't need all my books on my device in collections - just the ones I am reading/planning to read next.

You can already sort books on your Kindle Fire, or do you mean put them in collections or folders? If so, that's a feature that's been requested since 2011 and it hasn't happened yet. Even though it may seem like a "no brainer," apparently it's harder than it appears.

I would prefer this, as well. Let me sort ALL of them in common area, then disseminate them among the devices. A folder for ALL the kid books, ALL the YA books, ALL the cookbooks, etc... Then, like browsing Library shelves, you could pick what to "check out", then send to whichever device.

Yes. Having no true way to scan your archives easily is difficult. ...... I would love to be able to sort by page length as well - when that knowledge is given. This would seem like a no brainer to ask for. LOL.

I have tried the import into shelfari to see if it would be easier to scan around and find my next read.... didn't work so well.

All that information is on each of the books product pages so it is easily drawn upon for recall in other areas. LOL. <smart alec font> Heck I can do it with Microsoft Access why cant ammy do it? <end smart alec font>

Shelfari made me crumple into a tearful heap.

MoniKat, page length is definitely something I would like to see as well. With no way to utilize collections on my Fire, it's very difficult for me to remember which books are short story collections, just plain short stories, or novellas. Since I read a lot of each of these, it would be extremely helpful to have some kind of filing capability.

I use both Shelfari and Goodreads. Shelfari can be helpful, but after you import your books from Amazon, you have to go through and tag them (short story, novella, etc), otherwise it serves no purpose as far as differentiating between the two.
(Once they are tagged though, you can bring up your shelf, scroll to the bottom where it shows all your tags, click on whichever one you want, and everything you have tagged with that will come up. IE, if you had a "favorites" tag, you could click on that, and all of your favorites would come up. Same with "short stories" or "novellas".)

I would think they would work on this as well. I have stopped buying books because it gets too cumbersome to sort through all of them. I am sure that they don't want people to stop buying!

I too would like to sort me books into different collections. It is so tedious to have to trawl through all the books to find a particular one. About time Amazon got this done for its users. I have an original Kindle and can sort books on that so why not on the Fire.

I have stopped buying for a while. I have orig Kindle Fire. It is PIA to trawl through all the books...agree. Maybe some other company will come out with a device that works better and I will replace my Kindle. I love it though...)o:

I'd like to be able to sort by type: romance, science fiction, cookbooks, non-fiction.

I've wanted that for a couple years now.... The lesser model has sorting. Just reader one.

I would also like a swipe type app so I don't have to type each letter separately.... Like I have on Samsung Galaxy phone.

I would like to be able to sort by genre, and also to create my own genre, and maybe be able to put the same book in multiple collections. In case anyone is working on this and looking for suggestions.
In the meantime, is there an effective sorting ap available?
I have a Kindle fire HD, and the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 in
