What happened to Kindle DX why did Amazon kill it ... I believe 6 inch e-ink is not really what i want, i always struggle with PDF and technical books ... Do you think amazon will come out with a 9.7 inch + e-ink color display soon ?

ps: I already have kindle keyboard 3g

Doubt it. It was discontinued ages ago. Buy a 9.7" Fire if you need a larger page, or an ipad and use the Kindle app.

It actually was just discontinued a few months ago. I believe the original audience for the DX was business/education and it just didn't take off. I think lack of decent unit sales killed it off, unfortunately.

And a 9.7 Fire is not a good replacement for the DX e-ink display. There are many of us who still prefer e-ink for reading over backlit displays. I, too, am hoping Amazon reconsiders the larger e-ink display but put in smaller package than the original DX. I have all the requisite gadgets - iPad, tablet, etc - still prefer my dedicated reading on e-ink. Not sure I'd really buy into color e-ink but if it brings along the larger display I'd hop on board.

R. D. Clark says:
Reading technical documents and other PDFs on the Fire HD 8.9" high-resolution screen is superior to the DX in every way as long as you avoid glare. Its pixel density and color make the DX look like an etch-a-sketch, along with its ability to zoo and pan. Like most other large-format tablets, it is a better platform for large format documents with many illustrations and graphics than the DX ever was. And there's not really that much difference in weight and battery life, either.

So you separate out that sort of reading and do it on a large tablet, and you get a $69 Kindle Basic for when you're reading for pleasure. You've still spent only about what a DX used to cost.

Life marches.

It may have just recently been discontinued, but Amazon effective discontinued it years ago when they stopped providing updates for it.

How do you avoid glare when you're sitting outside (poolside?) trying to read? The sun is very bright and I can't see anything on my tablets ( Acer Iconia and Ipad.) You need an e-ink.
