George says:
When I first got the Kindle Fire, I was able to d/l some free apps out of curiosity. Now when I try to d/l an app, I get a "download fail" message. The only thing I can think of, is I changed my wifi security setting from WEP to WPA. Would this interfere with an app download?

Can you connect to the web through the browser? Can you download books or stream movies? If so, the change in security settings isn't the problem. If you can't do anything web related, then yes, that might be the problem.

Yes. Everything else works fine. I can browse the web and purchase books. Just unable to download apps. Seems I'll have to live without this feature. It would be nice if some error code was generated as to why. 'Download Failed" doesn't give much insight. Technology can stink sometimes.

I had the same problem with an app. CS gave me some line about the app no longer being sold, so I can't dl it even though I already purchased it. Seems like a glitch they don't want to own up to.

I also replied to another post before I found this one. Anyway I went into my web browser and went into settings and checked optional encryption. Now everything seems ok. Hope this helps you too.

You are talking to other customers here - not Kindle support. We would need to know exactly which Kindle and exactly what you can't download (everything, books, apps, etc). Exactly what have YOU done to troubleshoot the issue (hard reset, reboot, etc)

You can always contact Kindle support by clicking on help at the top and bottom of every Amazon page. Follow the prompts to customer service.
