Hi, what are my options when the charger is loose in the hole. I can't get the Kindle to hold a charge. Any suggestions. I have a Kindle Fire first generation.

Sounds like a good reason to upgrade to an HD! :)

The Artist says:
Some 1st gen usb ports had a problem. There are videos on YouTube about what needs to be done, so that you can then take it to a repair place (edit: cell phone repair places do that kind of work) and tell them what needs to be soldered (and so they won't try to sell you a new port). There are also some people offering repair services on e-bay, but I can't personally recommend any of them, so read the reviews.

It should only cost between $25-$35 to get it fixed.
