Miss Carol says:
How do you even know it was from Amazon? There have been quite a few false emails going out in Amazon's name that aren't from them at all.

After painfully trying to read your wall of words (every hear of paragraphs?), I don't understand why you think you were duped. If you need help from Amazon, contact Amazon customer service. You do that by clicking on the Help link at the top of the this page, then on "Need More Help?" then on Customer Service, not by responding to a survey!

There was an actual survey that was sent to me, but after I couldn't remember when the last time I looked at a Fire product page was (since I already own one), I got the notice that I didn't qualify for the survey. It never entered my mind that it was for any reason other than gathering information about their product pages.

Seriously, you should be embarrassed by your ridiculous post.

I had no problems with the 8.9 HD out of the box or the HDX.
It seems that you should have contacted customer service and returned it if it wasn't right for you. If you have internet issues the device may have been trying to update and failing. The updates could have been done via USB cable had you but asked.

The Paperwhite is a dedicated reader and is easier on the eyes and sleep cycle than the Fire tablets. The light is easily adjustable to individual preferences and circumstances.

While you may have had issues using the devices, you were not duped.

At least you're not doing the homeschooling.

In sorry, what? Can you please encapsulate this into 25 words or less? What.Do.You.Want?

Goodness. I thought this thread was going to be a Farce -- you know, a place to make suggestions like "Kindles should come with a cabana boy."

I would laugh at you too. Instead of calling for help you just wait. You could have a bad Kindle. It does happen. Oh well, I will just let you sit here and complain if that is what you prefer.

And please say you didn't put any personal information in it. Amazon already HAS your personal information. They wouldn't ask again.

If there was anything on that email to ask you to login, I'd sure change my Amazon password yesterday and check my CC statement.

Because it wasn't from Amazon.
It was someone who wanted your personal and/or account information.
