The Free Books and Chat forum group holds a book discussion every other Thursday evening.  The discussion time is 5 PM PDT/6 PM MDT/7 PM CDT/8 PM EDT.  It is always in a separate thread started at that time.  We chat about any aspect of the book.
Already scheduled are The Bluebird House by Rae Ellen Lee for April 12, and The End of Marking Time by CJ West for April 26.  Until Thursday, April 12, at 6 PM PDT/9 PM EDT, we are gathering nominations in this thread for the book to be discussed on May 10.
Late Thursday or early Friday, in this thread, the books to be voted on will be listed.  Interested participants may vote on one, two, or three choices for the book they would like to discuss.  First place votes get 3 points, second place votes get 2 points, and third place votes get 1 point.  Voting will end at 8 PM PDT on Friday.  The selected book will be announced in this thread and in FREE Books and Chat - Saturday, April 14.
The only requirement for nomination is that the book must have been free in the recent past.

Nominations of books by their authors will not be accepted.
The leaders of the discussion group are Sweet Diva Reader Marla, Nospin, and N. Podaci.  These three members will evaluate the nominations, count the votes, moderate this thread, and host the discussions.
We welcome all members of the Kindle Forum community to join us!

I don't know if anyone else grabbed this one but IMHO it was a good read: Prison Nation - free 3/23/12

Finding Emma is another really good one!

I noticed that a lot of us picked up Night Swim.

And I know that a lot of people picked up The Judas Gene when Grandma recommended it.

Thank you so much Dana! I could not remember the name of Night Swim and went back through MYK through the 7th (and I got it on the 6th).

Serves me right for thinking I would actually remember the title - lol!

Oh, The Judas Gene - I am interested in that book also.

Posted on Apr 11, 2012 7:45:29 PM PDT
I've got The Judas Gene and Finding Emma, so I'm good for either of those. =)

Someone mentioned in the Free Books and Chat thread earlier that they'd like to do 11:59.

Folks would you please hold your voting off until around 7:00 PM PDT Thursday night- 8 PM PDT Friday night? Tonight until 6 PM PDT Thursday is for the nominations; then we will provide a list of selections available for the actual voting otherwise something you've voted on may not count as it isn't still on the list... Thanks!

My brain works on EDT so I had to fix the times lol...

In no particular order, and most of these are still free as of this posting...

Not Your Everyday Housewife
Gifts and Consequences
Robbing the Pillars
Separate Truth
Express Riders OR The Shopkeeper (A Steve Dancy Tale)
The Knife and the Water
What Came After

I'm also good with The Judas Gene, Prison Nation or Night Swim

I saw a whole bunch of folks took The 24th Letter ((Mystery/Thriller)) (still free) today so I thought I'd throw it out there...

The Last Bookstore In America
NOT FREE NOW, but available from the KOLL. It was free several weeks ago, and was picked by many of us.
This is my first attempt at posting a link, hope it works.

ETA: it worked! Thanks Cinder for the great instructions on the freebie books threads.

Nice job Kindlana and thanks for posting a book choice. Don't forgot to come back over to vote later tonight or tomorrow...

I had one this time, honest.
Maybe I already put in Calibre...

Thanks Sweet Diva, I will. I am a super lurker, but want to start trying to post more, mainly to show my appreciation for all the work you guys do on this and the free books threads. I got my first Kindle (Fire) in November of last year, and since then I bought another Kindle (KK) and downloaded a LOT of free books thanks to all of you. I also enjoy the chat and the discussions.
Thanks again, to you and all the other regulars.

Found it.

The First Excellence ~ Fa-ling's Map (Li Fa-ling mystery series)
NOT FREE now, so if not enough people have it, drop it.
I picked it up middle of March, not sure how recent is recent.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 12, 2012 8:18:21 AM PDT
I'd say recent might be offered for free within the last maybe 6ish weeks...

Just my 4 cents and a gentle bump :-)

I'm about 80% done with Prison Nation, so I'd discuss it if it's nominated.

Nominations are open for one more hour. We'll start our discussion of "The Bluebird House" in a few minutes. After that is over, the discussion leaders will prepare the list of nominated books.
