How good is Kindle 2nd gen display compared to the first gen display? I read somewhere that a buyer even doubted the new Fire is IPS.

Why don't you read the product info?

The goodness of the 7in Fire HD screen is about 1.667 times the goodness of the 7in Fire screen if you are simply comparing the number of pixels in each screen.

But the best way for you to compare them is to go someplace where they have both in stock and look at them, e.g. Staples.

The buyer you mentioned is woefully ignorant. Amazon could not legally claim that the device has IPS unless it was true without running afoul of various truth in advertising laws on both the state and federal levels.

Read the device reviews on Amazon paying special attention to those bearing the label "Amazon Verified Purchase"

Thanks for the explanation! But it is Fire 2 (not HD) screen that interests me. On some youtube videos it seems different from the last year's Fire screen. It has a perfectly visible bluish tint when viewed at an angle, the previous model didn't have it. Also the color temperature seems different (colder) in the newer model. I liked the warm and solid colors of the previous Fire, but I am not so sure about Fire 2.

Videos often don't show the "true" depths of colors on things, especially of a backlit screen, so take that into account.
