My fire is connected to wifi source. Bought three books yesterday online and they still haven't came to fire. What the heck?

Maybe you didn't send them to the Fire. Go to "books" then click the button at the top which says "cloud." This should show all the book belonging to that account. Find the book you want and click and hold on it for a second or two. A menu should come up with an option for you to download the book.

I'm having trouble downloading Audible audio books. I've purchased the books and synced them to my library but they just won't download. It says in the Audible app that they, "connect" and then begin to, "download" but the download just stays at 0%. I have successfully downloaded portions of books before, so I know it CAN work, but it only works 10-15% of the time. Any ideas why or how I can fix this?

I've had the same problem with Audible books. It's frustrating! I think they were already downloaded before I realized it & ended up with several copies I had to delete. Now I can't get the Audible book I'm reading to stop without turning the whole Fire off with the button....

The Artist says:
Zac, since the audible books are in your library, have you tried to download them from the MYK page? I don't have a Fire so I'm not sure that will work, but you can give it a try. Make sure to have your Fire connected to wi-fi before you send it. Audiobooks take a really long time to download (20 minutes or more), so make sure not to turn off wi-fi until it's finished downloading.

Did you download it to your device? Or is it in Cloud?

Or, is the cover viewable on the device, but no content appears when you are not connected to wifi?

If it is the former, check by going to books. Then click device. If you don't see it, click cloud. If it's there, download it.

If not contact AKCS and they'll help you.

My kindle fire will not download at least half the books I purchase. I don't know what to do I have tried everything. Also when it does load the new ones it flushes some of the ones I already had and if I want them back I have to go to manage my kindle and redownload them. I thank God I did not sell my kindle 3 or I would be missing out on loads of books.the fire is ok but it is not as good as the kindle 3 for book downloading.I wish now I had not invested all that money in the fire.it it not worth the problems it puts out.

D. Holguin: This is very odd. I have a Kindle Fire and have never had anything remotely like this happen. Are you looking at your books under the Device Tab on your Kindle Fire? Every book I've downloaded is there. When you initially purchase a book, it should show up on your Carousel. As you know, you press on the cover and select download to get it on your device. Once I do that, I delete it from my Carousel except for the two or three "active" books I'm reading. All of the others still show up under the device tab in the book section. I've never had a book "flushed" off the Kindle Fire that I didn't actively delete myself. It might help if you walked us through step-by-step what's happening to you. Where on your Kindle Fire do you see the books that are purchased? Where are they disappearing from? Do they show up in the Cloud tab under books? Do they show up on your Carousel? When you download them, where do you read them from? The Carousel? The Device tab? Walk us through what's happening in more detail. If you want, you could contact customer service directly, this sounds like a very unusual problem.

I just received my fire. As an Ipad owner I am disappointed but hope to change that. I added several of the apps I use on a regular basis yesterday. Today I tap on facebook and it tries to load for close to 2 min. then gives me the message web page not available, really tried on the computer and it is fine. I get this message or no internet connection for every app I try. The tool bar shows I have a full connection and I am sitting next to the modem. What gives?

It appears that the Fire can't download books in .azw format. I have a few books that I purchased that won't open, and now I'm reluctant to PURCHASE any more books. I, too, still have my Kindle 3, luckily... but AMAZON NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS!!!!!!!!

A. Dietz says:
Carole: Of course the Fire can download books in AZW format, that's the Kindle format! The Kindle Fire can read books in the following formats: Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, and PRC natively. If you describe what you're trying to do more specifically, maybe we can help you better.

Did you just copy the books from your old Kindle or your PC to your Kindle Fire? If so, that's why they won't work, they're coded to a specific device. Just go to the cloud tab under books on your Kindle Fire, all of the books you purchased on your account should be there. Or go to Manage Your Kindle page on amazon.com and send them to your Kindle Fire.

Finally at least I know I'm not alone in this problem. That is exactly what my fire is doing. I buy a book ,download it,it looks as though the book is ready,I tap it,it shows me the book front and nothing more just blank when I try to turn the page just a blank screen. Its 50/50 as to whether the book will be there or not. Some are and some are not. If a lot of them were not free,I would really be upset. My sweet little kindle 3 never misses a book. Thanks for your input.

D. Holguin...I am having the same problem as you with the book cover and then blank pages. I have deleted from library, re-sent to Kindle fire, and done everything that the trouble shooting says to do and still have the problem..

I know right and kindle technicians have you to try so many things that still don't work. I don't think they know much about it either. I think this is just a bug that Amazon needs to fix. I know we can not fix it and sending it back is not going to work either because I think they all have this problem just some fires haven't shown it yet. I am just glad I didn't sell my kindle 3.

Do you have wi-fi at home? Is it turned on?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 6, 2012 5:21:07 PM PST
yes it is on and downloads the book but all that is there is the cover and blank pages

If you bought your Fire less than 30 days ago, just return it to Amazon for a full refund.

If you're beyond the return window, ask for a replacement unit to be sent. If they agree to do so, Amazon will pay the return postage on the device you have now.

Then, sell the replacement on eBay or Craigslist. I believe Kindleboards.com also has a "Buy and Sell" section on their forum that's quite active.
Why would you want to keep something you wish you'd never bought if you have options? I wouldn't.

Fortunately, my unit works perfectly and I adore it. I've encountered none of the issues other users have experienced. I can understand how frustrating it would be.

Just wondering? Have you ever tried connecting and downloading those items from a different wifi location? If I was having the same problem, that's something I would try, just to be sure it wasn't some weird intermittent issue between the Fire and my wifi connection. Couldn't hurt.

Charlie Fox says:
Many people have found that if you go to Settings/Applications/All Applications and open the Kindle App, you can clear the cache and the data. The Fire will then begin to bring all your info back. I found that after doing this, if I toggle between Cloud and Device for books, I can see them loading again.

<....If this is what I am in for.....>

If the rest of this sentence was going to be

....I'll be returning the Fire to Amazon and sticking with my ipad.

I think that would be an excellent idea for you to put into action. Just continue using your ipad and send your Fire back before your 30 day return window closes and you'll be $200 ahead of where you are now.
