Using the Kindle app on the HP tablet. I just finished reading a book that was downloaded, but cannot get out of the last page to start a new book. App opens to last page only. How can I close the recently finished book and get to the newer books downloaded??

Have you tried deleting the download?

I'm having the same issue with the Kindle app for Touchpad. There is no 'home' button, and deleting and reloading the app sounds like a cludgy way out. Is there no close book function?

For which Kindle or Kindle app?
In general, you need to press the home button.

@Stan Daley - Press the Home button or icon. If you don't know where that is, you'll need to tell us which Kindle or Kindle app you are using.

Did you figure out the Touchpad? I have one too. It is not very intuitive to me either, but I have been using it for a while. The home icon is at the very top left of the page. You have to tap at either the top or bottom for it to come up. The icon looks like three little books, two upright and one tilted against the other two.

Edit: I figure they may already know this since the original post was almost a year ago!

I have a kindle fire HD 8.9 and i am experiencing the same problem. I cannot access the home button once i am in a book. Please help

You tap the bottom middle of the screen, and a frame comes up all around the text. HOME is one of the choices.

Figured it out... just tap in the middle of the book NOT the sides, and your entire menu will appear after you tap in the middle of the book

I had the same problem on Kindle app on the Microsoft Surface RT. Very frustrating. Idiotic. Why don't they fix something that causes people so much confusion. Bad UI design is everywhere.

My Kindle reader app was just updated on my mini iPad, and I lost the option of exiting a book. I actually tried tapping on every possible location on my screen. I can highlight, make notes, tweet, share, etc, but I can not exit the book. My only option is to turn off the iPad. This is incredibly annoying. I like to read different books at different times during the day. Toggling back and forth between books was very easy before the fracking update.

Rebecca, to exit a a book on the iPad app tap the middle of the page, then tap the three horizontal lines at to top left, then tap "Library".

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Actually, only had to tap three horizontal bars, then library. Why do they do this on updates and leave readers in the dark? I quit accepting updates because the one time I did, I lost all my books and had to reload on Susan's "second" kindle.

This solved the problem for me although tapping the middle of the page wasn't the key. Tapping the horizontal lines and then library finally got me out of the book I had finished.

Didn't you already ask this on a different thread? If no one here has been able to answer the question for you so far, have you tried contacting customer service to see if they can help find a solution? Just click on the Help link on any Amazon page and follow the prompts.

I just bought the touchscreen after being told by an Amazon customer service person that I could read it in the dark without an extra light!! This doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone else have a problem reading in the dark? Can I brighten the screen?

Which device do you have? Both the Voyage and the Paperwhite models have a frontlit, lighted touchscreen screen and you can adjust the light settings as needed. No extra light needed.

I have the glass touchscreen
