It depends on what you are referring to.

Go to Manage Your Kindle and navigate to the content you want to get rid of and select delete. Content deleted will have to be rebought if you want to see it again.

Apps, however, at this time cannot be deleted.

I just learned how to delete from the cloud from a Kindle CS agent yesterday when I complained about not being able to delete cloud items. Using the PC, on the Amazon home page, click "Your Digital Items" (this is right above the cart icon in the upper right hand corner). Your Digital Items page displays. Under Amazon Cloud Drive, click "Your Cloud Drive Files" and voila---the following folders appear: Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos. Double click on the folder that you want (i.e., the folder name---don't click the check off box) and your items will display. Click the box for the item that you want to delete and the "Delete" option which was grayed out is now available for you to use. If delete option is still grayed out, this means you are at the folder level and need to double click again to drill down to the individual items in the folder.

For deleting Kindle ebooks, follow instructions on Nospin's posting.

On a different note:
I also found out that CS agents can upload music that you purchased and loaded to your device to the cloud. When I purchased my first song using the Fire I didn't send it to the cloud but had it downloaded to my device. I later wished that I had. The CS has the means to upload it for you from their records of your purchases.

I want to delete a book from ICloud which I already deleted from my device and my Kindle library. It just show the cover page on the ICloud. I pressed and held then the "Download" came only (not have for "Delete/Remove"). But cannot do anyhow as I deleted from my Kindle Library. I just want delete permanently from ICloud. I do not want this cover page display on my Kindle when in the ICloud screen.

I have deleted several Kindle books from my Amazon account on the computer, and they are gone from my Kindle; however, the icons for them still appear in the cloud on my Kindle app on the iPad. It won't let me download them to the iPad, where I could delete them (I'm sure this is because they were deleted from Amazon), but there also doesn't seem to be a way to delete them from the Apple cloud. Is there a way I don't know?

I ended up calling Amazon Kindle support and they helped me fix it. They had me delete my Kindle on the iPad and then reload it - then I was able to delete the two books that were "stuck" in the cloud. I recommend calling them, as they can walk you through it and it will let them know that it wasn't just one person's problem.

I have worked out how to do this. It's a real pain but it works.

Firstly you need to go onto Amazon and remove any unwanted books by deleting from your account.
Then connect your Kindle to PC and make sure that they all disappear from Kindle so your Kindle is up to date.
Having done that you need to delete the Kindle app from your iphone (assume this is same as ipad but I use phone) Note that this also removes any books from your device.
Reload the app and the cloud reloads the updated list to your phone. The deleted items will have gone.
Then you have to reload any books to your phone as the deletion of the app.

This is a real pain and Amazon/Apple need to get a delete function into the icloud but, up until then, this works for me.

I went to Manage My Kindle on the Amazon page (upper right corner under my account), deleted the books I wanted to, then deleted the Kindle app from iPad and reinstalled it. The unwanted books are gone from the cloud on my kindle and my wanted books still remain. It was easy to do!

I turned on my kindle fire and an XXX rated book was mysteriously downloaded. I logged onto my Kindle and looked in Cloud - it is NOT there. I then looked into my digital orders (thinking my teenage daughter did it) and it is NOT there. BUT, on the device when I go into "books" and click on "device" the book is NOT on there. However when I click on "cloud" it IS in there yet it does NOT show on my cloud online. URGH !! HOW DO I GET RID OF IT ???

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 25, 2012 3:46:13 PM PST
I've had the same problem. Exactly. I have removed the content from the Kindle account online, but the book cover is still seen in Cloud. When I click on the book cover the only options are 'download' or 'add to favorites'. Nothing available in Kindle help either. Any answers out there? Can you help?

I deleted unwanted books from Manage my kindle. Then pull down the top pull screen where your notifications are shown, on the kindle itself, and hit the sync button. Easy and it works.

To delete the book from kindle place finger over it till you get the option to delete
----------But to get rid of it in icloud--- i found this works --- go to top of page in your logged in Amazon where it says Hello your name Your account There is a drop down list --- click on manage my kindle --- your files are stored here in your icloud library and can be deleted (Actions)

On my iPhone5 I had the same problem. I went to "Settings" then clicked on "iBooks" and then turned off the "Show All Purchases" tab. This deleted the book cover images from the book shelf. They may still be in the cloud but at least they no longer show up in my bookcase. This action does not affect books that have not been deleted. Those books still show up. I do not have an iPad but the iPad may work the same way.

"Content deleted will have to be rebought ... "

I found that you can un-delete an ebook by doing this:

- go to "Your Account" page
- scroll down the page to "Digital Content"
- In that section go to "Your Media Library" and you'll see a link for "Your Collection"
- Click that and on the new page that comes up, at the top left beside your profile picture is a field called "View"
- Use the drop-down arrow and choose "Trash" - you'll a list of items you deleted.
- Restore a deleted ebook from there by check-marking the one you want, then at "Perform an action" click the little + by that and another drop-down allows actions, and under "Classify:" choose "Return to your collection".

Dawn says:
DLee - if you are using "Your Media Library" you have NOT deleted your book - the only way to delete a book - remove from the cloud- is using Manage My Kindle

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 24, 2013 8:31:25 AM PST
This is incorrect.
That would only work if you had tried to delete a book by putting it in the trash of Your Media Library, which doesn't actually delete a book, just hides it in the trash.
If you delete a book using Manage Your Kindle, which is correct, your method doesn't work.
