Just got a kindle fire today...and extremely irritated. Yes, I downloaded free books before I "sampled" them, they were free...figured I could delete if i didnt like later... and NOW I have learned my lesson. I have been able to delete them from the carousel (which pops back up on the carousel each time you click on the book again) and I have even deleted an unwanted book from my entire kindle library account...even reset to factory settings...and guess what!?!?! NOTHING DELETES FROM THE CLOUD READER BOOK LIST!!!!!! Even chatted with kindle specialist online for an hour...with NO progress! DOES ANYONE know how to solve this issue?!?!?! Thanks so much~ MERRY CHRISTMAS!

You have to go into your account on line. Then go to manage your Kindle. You can delete the books from there.

Delete unwanted books by going into Manage Your Kindle, selecting the book and choosing delete from the dropdown menu on the right.
Sync your Fire and the book will be gone.

I had saved a lot of books to my kindle account. Got the fire for my daughter who is 8 and she can see all the books on the cloud drive. Not too happy because many are not age appropriate for her. I don't want to delete my books but I think there should be a way to password protect the cloud option on the fire) due to parents getting the fire for their kids. I don't want my daughter seeing every book and romance novel I buy.

I have done the whole "manage my account" part of deleting books, but they still show on my kindle fire in the cloud tab. I really need to delete them because some book covers are inappropriate for my child to see. What do I do now?

I figured it out!!! After you have "managed your account" online, you need to go to your kindle fire and click on the icon that looks like a gear (top right corner). Then click "sync" and all of your deleted books will disappear!! Hope this will help anyone else that was in the same predicament as me. Merry Christmas!

I had the same problem. First you have to go online to your account. Go to "manage my kindle". Click on the "actions" button to the right and select delete. Now go to your Kindle fire and in the top right corner is an icon that looks like a gear. Touch it and then select "sync". Your deleted books should now be gone. Hope that helps. Merry Christmas!

can you download music from the cloud to the Kindle fire but then delete the songs from the cloud and have them still stay on your kindle? or are you stuck with them in the cloud until you delete them from the kindle?

I'm having the same problem. When i go online to manage, I can delete from there and the books no longer show up online. But they still show up on my Kindle. The books just have an arrow that it pointing down. But they are still there after weeks go by without deleting.

I have followed all the steps listed and still have books that I have deleted when I "manage my Kindle" show up on other devices--even after syncing. I don't want these books there. How can I delete them?

i am so frustrated with my kindle fir HD that I could scream. Like many other commenters, I downloaded many books. I thumb through library books before deciding to read them or not, and and tend to do the same with e-books . I can not get some books off my kindle. I removed it in my kindle, managed to get it off my device page, but could not get it off my cloud page. I tried syncing it, and it put it back on my device page. Even books I downloaded to my computer are on my cloud page. I do not want to have to scroll through books, looking for something. I like to organize my library in nested folders, much easier to find what I am looking for. When I hold my finger down on the title, I get a popup that says add to favorites or download. How about delete. The choice will not pop up. I want to download books, scan multiple pages read the ones I want, and delete the ones I don't want.

i had the same problem for awhile. i followed the advice on these post but it wasn't always working. I've noticed though that you if a book is on your device you have to remove it (uninstall it) and then do the gear, sync thing. On my device the books and apps i do not want are no longer on there. :)

If the deleting and syncing doesn't work for you you may need to check here:
I found on my Kindle Fire that if I had any books in the Trash bin on the "Your Media Library" site they still showed on my cloud. I can take the items out of the trash and put them back into my collection, then proceed with the deleting from "Manage my Kindle" page and then syncing on the Kindle.

DML says:
Amazon MP3s, Kindle books, Amazon Shorts and other digital items cannot be deleted from Your Media Library in The Cloud in case you want to re-download your purchases.

They are forever stuck in your Cloud, deleting from your Kindle Account online then trying to delete from the trash WILL NOT work.

It didn't help me either. I still have option to download books I have deleted from Kindle Library. It will make me stop sampling books from Amazon.

I've gone thru all the steps of being online with amazon. Tap digital then try to look up books. Even after going into actions and deleting books from my list which is suppose to be permanent they are still there. But don't show up on the amazon digital list any more. I just need to know how to get these books totally off my IPad kindle cloud app. Any ideas let me know.
