How do you tether the Kindle fire to a cell phone?

I also would like to know how to tether my blackberry 9330 to my new kindle fire as I do not have ready access to wifi. I normally tether my blackberry 9330 to my laptop for internet service through Verizon.

Depends on the phone but the first thing you need to do is get a tethering contract with your phone provider. This may be called a mobile hotspot, Mifi, fivespot or something else. Once that's on it will show up like any other WiFi network, enter your password and you should be good to go.

What is a tethering contract? Is that the same as a data plan? Do I need a cable to connect the blackberry to the Fire with 2 micro ends? Or do I connect my blackberry and the fire to my laptop and somehow get a wifi connection to my verizon account from there? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Verizon will be happy to sell you a Wifi plan for your phone. The cost will be in addition to whatever you're already paying. 2 gigs will cost about $30/month. If you're watching movies on your KFire, you'll use that amount within days.

There are no cables with Wifi...that's kind of the point.

No, you cannot connect by a cable of any kind. You have to be able to turn your Blackberry into a mobile hotspot, which will allow other wireless devices to connect to your Blackberry via wireless and share the BB's data connection. I don't know about BB's, but most modern smartphones (iPhone and Android) allow you to turn it into a wireless hotspot. Most of these wireless hotspots also require activation on your phone and carry an extra charge from your provider. Contact your cell provider to find out about your BB device.

No, there is no app for tethering a Kindle Fire to a cell phone. You can use a cell phone that create a WiFi hotspot or a MiFi device that creates a WiFi hotspot, but you can't physically connect a Kindle Fire to a cell phone to get a WiFi signal. If you don't have a computer and don't have WiFi at home, you're going to have to find a public WiFi hotspot, like at a cafe or coffee shop or something.
