I have the Kindle App and all my books show up but when I try to down load them to my iPad it just shows the searching circle up at the top. Tried and tried again. Nothing works for me with this. If I've paid for the book and Amazon has this app then what is the problem? I've read many people's complaints about this. Help!!

Have you powered down your iPad? Have you unregistered and re-registered the app? Have you tried contacting Kindle support by clicking on help at the top or bottom of any Amazon page and then the contact us button on the next page?

Are you connected to the internet on your iPad when you are downloading the ebook from your archives?

I have 4 iPads and don't have a problem downloading to them. Are you looking in Cloud or Device view?

Have tried Cloud and device. Amazon says it's been delivered to my device and Cloud.

Yes, I've powered down, unregistered and re-registered the app. Yes, I contacted them and was told to download the kindle app which I did. So I'm still trying everything.

"all my books show up"

What exactly does that mean? Show up where?

My entire library is on the iPad. Each book has a down arrow to download. When I click to download I get an X and it just seems to search and then nothing. Can a 16 GB ipad only DL one book? That's all I've been able to do. My iPad wouldn't even let me reply to you. I'm writing from my laptop right now.

Then your entire library isn't on the iPad. The down arrow to download applies to your archive/cloud content, which is what isn't on that device. So if you then tap Device, those e-books aren't there?

If I tap the device on any book the arrow turns to an X and keeps searching. I have tried to have the books delivered to the iPad one by one from the laptop. Amazon says they are delivered and only one downloaded.

I don't know what you mean by tapping device on any book. From Home on the Kindle app, tap the Device button on the bottom of Home. It's by the Cloud button.

I have tapped the Device button. It just shows up on the device page with an X instead of the down arrow on the book I am trying to download from the home page with all the front covers of every book I own.
The books are all in the cloud and only one will download to the device.

It isn't supposed to have a down arrow when you're on the Device list, only on the Cloud list.

Why don't you give us one of those titles?

I can download the sample without any problem but I suppose that doesn't tell us much beyond the fact that I can download the sample.

Have you restarted the iPad? When did you buy these e-books relative to when you got the iPad?

When I tap a title in the cloud page it should start to download, right? Instead it just goes to the X and says 0.0 downloaded. Yes, I am a Tulane graduate but I'm just missing the point with this some how. Sorry to be a pain and thanks for your patience.

The iPad is brand new. The books have been in my Kindle for a few years. I have registered the iPad with Amazon though.

From your Cloud, does tapping the book download to your device with out problem? Mine just freezes/searches.

R. D. Clark says:
In the iPad app, the "download" arrow appears only in cloud view. Means the book is in your archive, and to read it you need to download it to your iPad first. Tap the "down" arrow to do so.

Now the arrow turns into an X, indicating the book is in transit. It should take but seconds to download with wifi and a typica book. When the download is complete, the C turns into a "New" icon, ad the book becomes visible in "Device" view.

If this is not what is happening for you, you should contact CS again. Make sure you're talking to Kindle CS during West Coast business hours, for best results.

Okay, let's just try to rule things out. If the e-books are in the iPad's cloud list, then we know you didn't register the iPad app to a different account. It's not giving you any notifications, alerts, error messages?

None.

When I'm on the Cloud list, I tap the item and the download arrow changes to an X while the progress bar starts to fill up, indicating the % till completion.

But, I intentionally haven't updated my app because the version I have is just fine and I'd just as soon wait while other people discover any potential bugs in a new version.

So, we haven't ruled out a bug in the update. I'd still restart the iPad and try again, just so we can rule that out.

Okay, have restarted it. Same problem. I re-installed the app today so should be up to date. My progress bar just won't move. Stays on 0.0 downloaded. Just so strange. Should be able to DL more than one book right?

It works when I stand right next to the base. So I guess I have a weak wireless server or something. Thank you for your research and suggestions. Problem just seems to be with my server I think. Thanks again.
