Go to the Manage Your Kindle page here on Amazon. Find the book you want to get rid of and select the delete option. This permanent, if you want to read it again you will have to purchase it again.

I'm having problems deleting archived books from my kindle computer reader. I've been on Amazon's 'manage your kindle' page- Nothing's there. Its just showing me a blank screen, as if I have no books.

try a different browser and if they're not visible there there are three possibilities:

1. you didn't get the books from Amazon or transfer them through Amazon
2. you have two accounts - the one you logged into when you try to look at Your Manage Your Kindle page and the one you've been buying books on
3. you used Your Media Library to "delete" the books (this does not delete them, just hides them from your MYK page but you can stell see them in the archives/cloud)

Following on from this, I have received several books (free ones I might add) that when I open them there is nothing there. I get a message that says to delete and re-load from archived items. However, if I delete them, are they not permanently gone as Bixillarla says? I have them sitting in archived at the moment.

only if they're from a source other than Amazon

Thanks for the quick reply. I did get them from Amazon so what you are saying is that I won't lose it if I delete it? The reason I want to be sure is that I got the book free and recently looked it up (to see about downloading again) and it now costs $11.06 which I obviously don't want to pay since it was free in the first place!

CBRetriever says:
if it's listed in your Manage Your Kindle page (link under Your Account) it belongs to you and the account and will be stored there and can be downloaded (in most cases) onto 6 kindles at the same time

I wanted to clean up my Kindle before loading more new books. I had a few in the archive I attempted to delete online under Manage Your Kindle. They appeared to have been deleted and no longer show up on my list, yet they are still on my actual Kindle. The name/titles anyway. I thought maybe I needed to un-archive them to get them to delete, but am not able to do so. I just get the response stating "License Limit Reached-You have exceeded the limit on the number of devices that can read this item....". One of these books I paid quite a bit for, was BORED to tears and never got past the 2nd chapter. Either way, I want them gone from my actual Kindle but that seems quite the dilemma as they are no longer showing up on my list online.

I have over 600 books in archives and I want to delete some. The problem is I want to keep some of the good ones but need to read some content to be sure of the good ones. How do I do this the simplest way.

Did anyone reply to NancyW's Juen 21, 2013 post, because I have the same problem. I want to remove 3 books from my archive, but my online has them as deleted, but they are still on my device

Did you solve the problem?

Where is Amazon support for this issue? This is an extremely bothersome problem.

Where it's always been - up at the top of the page, click the Help link and then the Contact Us button when you get there. The best options are chat or having them phone you.

Have you also deleted them from the device (just deleting them from your MYK page doesn't do that for you) and then synched the device? Usually that gets rid of any that are hanging around.

archive , how do you get rid of books in the archive list, we all know how to delete books in manage my account, but the books that you deleted in manage my account still show up in the archive list, can anybody come up with the answer.

CBRetriever says:
It's a three step process

1 - on the home page of your Kindle, select the book and remove from device or send/move to archives (wording is different depending which Kindle you have)

2 - go to your Manage Your Content and Devices page (link under the Your Account menu on most Amazon webpages)

3 - turn on wireless on your Kindle and sync and check for new items (this is either a menu option or an icon depending on which Kindle you have)

I didn't delete any books from your account and no one else did either because no one here has access to your account

and I told you how to do it

if that doesn't work, you need to talk to Customer Service by clicking on the blue Help on the top of this webpage, and then clicking on the
Contact Us button on the page that comes up

I have 350 books located in "Archive" on one of the Kindles I have. I don't want to delete the books from my account just all of the archived books on a particular Kindle. The only options I seem to have is to delete the books from my library which will delete them for good or to open EACH book in this particular Kindle's Archive and load them then delete them which will take forever. There has to be a better way -- Amazon is an IT driven company!
