It is driving me nuts and ive tried everything. I have went to the app store to look for a camera and I have went on youtube and watched videos but nothing helps. So apparantly I'm stupid or thus kindle is. Someone please help me!! ): ):

It is not a camera. It is a non working light sensor.

miss as says:
I manage to use mine to take pictures that I can share on Facebook but there is no view finder obviously so you can't actually see what you are taking pictures of.

The camera on the KFHD is located in the Gallery. Go to Pictures, you will see a camera icon. Tap on it and the camera will turn on. This is a front camera only remember. The shutter is on screen. Not real useful for anything other than web stuff, skype and such

What is the camera app name?

There is no camera app installed on the Fire HD. To access the camera, you have to have all the software updates installed. Go to the "photos" tab and you will see a white camera icon; tap that to take a picture.
