I use a pop3 mail account provided by Time Warner using RoadRunner. I am trying to set up this account on my Kindle Fire and I am having a problem setting up the smtp info. I get the message "Cannot connect to server. No valid authentication mechanism found." I have a feeling it has something to do with the port #. I am using port 587 which was the default.
In the help section it list many of the carriers like at&t setup variables but Time Warner wasn't listed. My pop3 server setup works fine. Anyone have any ideas?

T. Cook says:
Call Time Warner and verify the SMTP server name and the outgoing port number, as well as what authentication type it uses if the Fire has an option for that as well...
Or if you have it setup on your computer, check the settings there.
Else ask another Time Warner customer what settings they use.

I use Microsoft Outlook as a mail client and it has all the info listed. It uses port 25 for smtp server. I changed my KF and it still doesn't work. Also doubled checked the server name. Also tried all four authentification types with no success.

Same with Brighthouse - all server info is correct.

Finally figured out my problem with Time Warner POP email. On the outgoint server (smtp) there is no authentication required. I unchecked the box requiring sign-in and changed the port to 25. Works great.

I can't get my KF to go beyond the POP3 setup screen. All info is correct, but it just keeps returning to the setup page over and over and over. I previously had two cheap tablets and had ZERO problems setting up my roadrunner email account on either.

Another issue with SMTP setup are relay 250 not open, or on.

I had these to ask my ISP TW Roadrunner to open it

How do I transfer contacts from Pc to kindle

Mirez says:
You need to push your contact either through Gmail, Windows Live, etc.

once you have set up your Gmail (as example) your contacts will push into your Kindle, well it worked for me that way

I kept getting that message after setting everything up according to how my main computer Windows Mail was set up. Despite getting the message, I tried sending myself an email and to my surprise, it went through.

Here are the instructions I received from Time Warner RR email to interface my Kindle Firte Gen 1 to Road Runner email So far has worked okay. Will see what happens when I go out of the TW network.
1. Tap on the Apps button on the Kindle Fire.
2. Tap on Emails. (Select Email has never been configured).
3. Under the Email setup - tap on Start.
4. Select Other from the list.
5. Enter your RR Email address and the password and proceed.
6. Select POP3 from the list and enter your RR email address and the password.
Use POP3 Server as:
Select security type - 'None'.
Authentication type - Plain.
The default port number for POP is 110.
7. Proceed to the Outgoing Server settings (SMTP).
SMTP Server:
Security type - None.
Use the port number 25 if you are under the RR Network. If not, then select port 587 and check the option of 'Require sign-in'.
Authentication type - Automatic.
Enter your user name and password.
8. Select next and check the next option of Inbox settings accordingly.
9. This will complete the configuration for Kindle fire.

I keep having trouble with my Time Warner email account. It works for a few days then stops working. I was using the same settings Texas Skunk mentions with the exception of Authentication Type as I don't have that setting (or where is it). HELP!

I tried this fix and I still can't get connected.
