How is your battery charge?

Charge it and hold the power button down for a full 25 seconds.

I received my Kindle Fire eleven days ago. I have recharged it successfully atleast 6-8 times. This morning, I checked the weather and returned twenty minutes later to a dead Kindle. It will not power on, even tried holding the power button for 25 seconds. I have plugged into the charger but the light on the charger does not turn green nor does the Kindle appear to be charging. I have tried multiple plugs and removed/replaced the charger from the Kindle. The Kindle Fire appears to be completely dead. Any suggestions?

Resolved by another forum:
To reboot, you must unplug the charger from the Kindle and press power button for 25 seconds. If the Kindle is plugged into the charger it will not reboot.

The 25 second thing worked for us. Thanks. You saved my 9 y.o. daughter some grief. Had to hold button down for 25 secs (we did 35 just to be sure), release it and then press it again and then it rebooted.

The 25 second reset worked, but I am wondering if this will be an ongoing problem . . . and what causes it? Does anyone know?

OMG!!! It just worked for me too! I was sad and skeptical about "hold the power button for 25 seconds". It sounded too easy. Anyway, thank you all sooooooo much!

I had the issue as well, but did not hold the power button for 25 seconds. I assumed that maybe the battery was dead and needed recharging (even though I pretty much knew that wasn't the problem). After a few hours of charging, it still did not work. After about 9 hours, it finally came back on.

25 sec thing worked for me too, but I am nervous that I already had to reboot it. I am thinking this should not happen?

I have used this method to reboot my Kindle Fire at least 5 times. I DL a lot of books, and read a great deal.
I have had to reboot my husband's KF twice but he uses his a bit less than mine.
Rebooting won't hurt anything..it just resets the system.
We used to call a reboot 'taking out the garbage' LOL

Same thing with me.. was watching a movie on break at work. Light press on the power button to put in it sleep mode.. come back to it like 2 hours later and it not doing anything. Thought the battery died (though it was full at start of night) so tried to charge it and nothing. The hold for 25sec thing got it to reboot and wake thou. Scary stuff.

My kindle fire stopped working while I was using google maps, I plugged it in and unplugged it but nothing worked until I pressed the power button for a long time. Hope they fix this bug.
