The above discussion is not specific for the 2013 Kindle Fire HDX, or am I missing something. When I click on 'Devices' I cannot see the option for enabling third party app installations. I would really appreciate some help, as I intend to install the Nook App.
Thanks in anticipation.

Mrs. PZ, did you follow the links I posted back in July? If you did, what specifically isn't working for you?

Thank you HRH Spider! Got it. Do I download the Nook app for Android? I have a 2013 Kindle Fire HDX 7.
Wish you a very happy New Year!

I am trying to download the nook app for android on the barnes and noble website, AFTER turning on 3rd party (unknown) apps on my Kindle Fire HDX 7 (2013). For some reason, the download button is not enabled. Help, please, anyone?

@A. Dietz, I went to the Goodereader website and downloaded the Nook for Android app - it did show download 'complete'. But when I searched, I cannot see the Nook App anywhere. Where do you think this might be stored in the Kindle? I am using a 2013 Kindle Fire HDX 7

Use ES File Explorer and go to download manager to install the app.

Thank you so much Nospin.
Got the ES File Explorer and got the Nook app. The thing is, it's only accessible at present via ES File Explorer. Is there any way I can see the Nook Icon on my home screen?

~nospin says:
If you go to Download Manager in the ES file explorer app, you should be able to install.

To see Nook icon, click Apps and sort by Recent and it will be in your top row.

Mom/teacher says:
So, if I buy a Kindle HDX, I can continue to buy books from Barnes and Nobel and read them on the Kindle? I am a teacher and I get a lot of gift cards. I want a Kindle, but I have a large gift card balance with Barnes and Noble.

I just received my Kindle Fire HD 7" and I do not have the "more" option, when I go to settings, I dont have an option to allow outside apps. Any ideas?

Do you have an option called settings?? I "think" in the newer tablets it's under applications not device. Then you'd want to "allow apps from unknown sources"

ETA: you should download the es explorer app through Amazon as well...that way you can find things you download to the kindle.

Www.lovemyfire.com is a good site for new kindle users

How do I install the App? I am in download manager, but I cannot seem to search for anything. Once in download manager, how do I access new apps? Thanks

PS56k says:
take a look around - there are a couple of related steps/items.

1 - you need to "enable" the installing of "outside" apps, beyond the Amazon Kindle world.

2 - you need to search, find, and download the NOOK app - suffix is .APK

3 - you need to locate the downloaded file on your Kindle, and install it...

this is where the hunt & find comes into play, and the ES Explorer app can help searching your Kindle for the downloaded NOOK.APK file....

Check out Goodereader.com for both the Nook app and a video on how to sideload. (The video is in one of the tabs right above the word "Description." The download link for the app is on the left side of the page.)

I want to thank everyone who supplied answers in this thread. I was able to access the Good E-Reader store without any issues, and download the Nook for Android app. I found it in Downloads, it installed easily, and the Kindle allowed me to add the launch icon to my home screen. Thank you again,
Connie :-)

Will this work the same way as it does on the Nook? I tried to make a bookmark to save my spot, and it didn't work.
