I have determined a workaround for an issue the techs at Amazon Kindle and Audible all lacked answers for. Perhaps it will enable others to enjoy their books without the preliminary frustration. Here is the issue: I have a Kindle Keyboard and and Audible account. I wanted to use the new WhisperSync feature (to sync an audiobook and a written book--they must be bought on the same account and loaded on the Kindle). A large look that normally downloads in five parts (only the parts you select) from Audible gave an "insufficient space" message on the Kindle, even when I wiped everything from the device. The problem, it turns out, is that the "Deliver to Kindle" button on Audible sends all five parts even when only the one part is clicked. (On you iPod or iPhone, of course, you can download just the one part at a a time to save space.) Here is the workaround. All you need is your USB cable for your Kindle (it's part of the power supply) and your computer.

Here is the "workaround": I downloaded the Part One (only) of the book to my computer, not to the Kindle. Then I dragged it from the Downloads folder to a folder on my desktop.

Next I hooked the Kindle to my computer with the USB cable and opened "Kindle" in the Finder window. (I use a Mac, but I'm sure the process is comparable on a Windows machine.) You will see several folders, including an "Audible" folder. I dragged the Part One of the book to the Kindle's Audible folder. When it finished copying, I ejected the Kindle.

Then, to find it on the Kindle and move it to the Home Page: On the Menu (accessed from the home screen) I used "Search" to locate the book, typing the title in the search box. Then I clicked the audiobook and chose "add to home screen. It worked. Hopefully you can use this to enjoy your big audiobooks with the WhisperSync feature. When I finish that part, I plan to delete it from the Kindle and do the same with the next part. (You'll need to Delete for the Kindle device itself AND then hook it to your computer and drag the first part out of the "Audible" folder to the trash. (Of course, ideally, it would be good if "deliver to Kindle" only sent the one part of the book clicked--then no workaround would be necessary. But until then........)

I always download audible books to the Audible Manager on my computer in Format 4 instead of the Kindle format, because it uses about half the space in Format 4. Then, it's easy to move the book to whatever device I choose. I don't know if it would download all 5 parts of your book at the same time that way, but the total would be half the size of trying to send it directly to your Kindle via wi-fi.

Edited to correct typo.
