I just traded in my Kindle 2.0 for a Kindle Fire (1st gen). Is it me or is the Fire very slow on start-up?

I guess it depends on what you mean by slow and if you are talking about booting the Fire or coming out of sleep mode.

I guess I mean booting up. Not coming out of sleep mode. I usually wait 2-3 minutes.

My 1st gen takes just over 1 minute to boot up. Faster than my old Windows XP computer!

I would suggest just leaving it in sleep mode with the wi fi off when not in use, and it will wake up instantly.

Also, try doing a hard reboot on it and see if that speeds things up:

With the Fire charged but unplugged from the charger, press and hold the power button for 30 full seconds. After the Fire cycles off completely, press the power button once to turn it back on.

My tablet takes over a minute to start up. But I only have to reboot it once every couple of weeks or so. I hardly ever turn off any of my computer equipment.

Let the Fire go to sleep mode. Only power off occaisionally. Mine takes about 30 seconds to power up. The more apps you running at start up, the slower it will run.
