D. Baker says:
You go to Manage Your Kindle, look for the book, and click on "Return this book" .

Then on your kindle, you simply delete it.

I just go to Manage Your Kindle and click on "Return this book". Then when I turn on wireless and sync the book is removed from my Kindle and I get a title saying the book as been removed. I just delete that document that tells me I returned the book.

Just Peachy says:
Up at the top right corner of this page is "Your Account". Go there and scroll down a wee bit to see "Manage Your Kindle"

catsch says:
You delete it by clicking left on the 5 way. It will ask if you want to remove from device. Click the middle of the 5 way and it will be deleted.

ETA: Sorry, I was answering the OP.

Scroll to the top of this screen. It's in the upper right corner.

It's also at the very bottom of this page (the page you're reading this on) under "Let us help you" - it's the next to the last item.

thank you, thank you, thank you! My expired public library book has been first on my Kindle screen for months and I couldn't remove it no matter what I tried... it didn't show up in Manage My Kindle. I clicked left on the 5-way and it's gone - finally! Yay! :)

Any ideas on how to automatically delete library books after they've expired?

Is there an Amazon web service API available that would allow me to automate the above?

Anyone know how to delete books from Kindle touch? I was reading the other posts but my kindle doesn't have a 5-way...and I can't figure out how to delete the expired library books.

T. Cannon says:
I don't have a touch but I have a Fire which is a touch screen interface. I just touch and hold (long touch some people call it) on the book and a list of options comes up. One of the options is delete from the device.

Indeed. Long-touch them, and your menu choices should pop up.

What's a five way?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 2, 2014 6:56:08 AM PST
M. Patterson says:
Mary: the cluster of five buttons (up, down, right, left, enter) that allow you to navigate a non-touch screen Kindle is referred to as "the five-way". Touch screens don't have (or need) them.
