Bob says:
Every time I open the web browser there are a lot of tabs reopened even if the last time I used the browser I clicked close all tabs and cleared all history. I get tabs from several days ago. How do I insure that the browser is totally cleared when it is opened?

Ditto Bob to your question.
I've been having the same problem with "too many open tabs" after the history has been cleared... even days later, tabs which had been deleted suddenly pop-up and cause the KindleFire to seize-up. Hopefully an expert can resolve this problem for us and am sure for many others too.

J.L.B. says:
Try toggle wheel, more, applications, browser, push force stop. Then when you reopen browser and it asks to restore tabs, push no. Hopefully this will help fix the problem.

Thank you for eliminating a frustration in my life.
Am sure your solution will help others too.

Mary says:
Look up to the right on the home screen. See the little thing that looks like a gear? Click and follow the rest of the steps from there, worked for me. Mary!

Follow-up to J.L.B.:
Followed your instructions in May to fix "too many open tabs" problem... it worked.
Here we are in September & no issues have resurfaced.
Thanks and God bless!

I don't have a little gear-looking thing. Still too many tabs open. What's a tab? Bewildered. Don't know how to get where. Don't know when to poke, when to drag. Don't know why whatever happens happens. Have not yet smashed the thing.

I have an original kindle fire so if you have a newer one I am guessing there is no gear icon where I said. You will have to read the manual to find out where the settings are on the newer kindle fire. Mary

thanks mary

I just stumbled on a radio station! Don't know how I got here. Doubt I could ever find my way back. Can't find the volume controls! tap tap tap up pops this up pops that. I saw a volume control yesterday.
But I'm listening to Gustav Holtz; a piece I've played several times.

My Kindle Fire keep telling me 'too many open tabs.' I read last years answer, but my 'settings' is not an upper right wheel, I found 'settings' in a menu (thingy looks like a ladder) at the middle of the bottom of the screen. Please give an updated path to clear tabs. And yes, I have looked in the manual. Greek to me. I have a Kindle Fire 7" display, 8 GB - WI-FI

Menu. Setting. Clear cache. Clear history.

Mary says:
That won't do it. They need to know where to force stop the browser in the newer model as posted above for the older model. Mary

Getting back to "too many tabs open" we seem to have different solutions for different Kindle models. And certainly a wide range of operating savvy. This discussion is going on in an Amazon Kindle forum. Is there someone from Amazon looking on, to see if we can solve the riddle? I got the Kindle to see what it was like. My impression is that a lot of it is about how to solve riddles. Is this it?

If you want a reply from Amazon, use the Help breadcrumb at the top of this page, then click on the Contact Us button. Choose Call Me, and a Service Rep will call you within minutes.

It is! I kept clicking until I'd seen all of the possible relationships. Very cute!

The instructions posted about the settings in the gear wheel worked for me with my first generation fire but I have no clue where those settings are on the second generation to point it out. It's worth a try anyway to see if that works on the second generation. Mary

I can't find the breadcrumb. Do you mean on the page on the computer where I am looking, or a page on the Kindle which is plugged into the computer, but I haven't found this on the Kindle.
Where should I put the long address you gave above.
And THANKS for helping.

I just went to web, menu(ladder thingy at bottom), starter page, history, clear all.
Still too many open tabs. Do I need to turn on and off or something?
