I put several of my books in collections, however they are still listed on the home page. If i delete them off the home page, they also delete in the collection i put them in. This wasn't how it was in my previous kindle - is this a "feature", because it's not -- what is the point of putting books in folders as it doesn't clean up the content ?

Michele, you need to sort By Collection. At the upper right of the screen there is a drop down menu where you can select Recent/Title/Author/Collections. Select Collections.

Adding to what Meya said, the book is really only on your Kindle once. The collections are just tags or information about the book. Collections are not folders like you have on your PC. When you deleted the books from the home page they were removed from the Kindle and therefore from the collections too.
