my kindle fire hdx has blue haze around edges

Does anyone see a blue haze around the edge of the screen. It is very noticeable with the browser and reading kindle books. I'm hoping my kindle is just a defect so I can return it.

Yep, blue haze along one edge. It's not enough for me to bother about, but I expect that Amazon will replace yours. Trying contact them.

actually, yeah. I think I'll try out Mayday, getting a replacement arranged.

I have a new 32gb HDX that just arrived this morning and I have the blue haze on all four sides of the screen also. It is worse on the long sides and most prominent on the bottom edge in landscape orientation. I will be contacting CS on Monday as well. It is certainly disappointing.

Yep, I'm seeing it on three of the four edges, when I'm viewing a white screen. It's most pronounced along the two long edges, but the bottom short edge has a hint of it, too. Sigh. It's such a lovely thing in every other way.

Yay I agree. I'm really enjoying everything else. the screen is amazing except for the blue haze. I bet it's probably a bad batch and we will all get our kindles replaced. Amazon customer service, any thoughts on the matter?

Just did mayday for it, the lady was very helpful and friendly, but this is a technical issue and tech support has to call you. She took control of my screen and got me to the Amazon tech support screen. I entered my number and they called immediately.

Tech support had not heard of the problem and are next day air sending a replacement. Fingers crossed this is isn't common and those of us with this problem are just really unlucky.

If this isn't a flaw, but due to some sort of compromise of the screen tech I will not be keeping it. Never seen anything like this on phones or other tablets.

Really hoping I just got a defective product, it's a pretty neat tablet otherwise.

Also I have a 32 gb model without special offers. The new order is for a 64gb with special offers. I do love Amazon, that makes up for waiting another 2 weeks.

No, only on the reading app and webpages. You could probably see it if the video was very light around the edges though. I can see it now with the keyboard up for instance, but barely. This probably wouldn't be a big deal for most people, but it isn't normal either. These devices are too expensive to have flaws like this in my eyes.

Still waiting on someone to say they don't see it at all.

64GB 7". I only notice the problem when the background is white. Reading a book white-on-black, or playing a game, or watching a video, or browsing a web page that doesn't have a white background, I don't notice it. Hence my initial reply of "eh, not gonna worry about this." But it's *extremely* annoying when reading a book black-on-white, and this is the best setting for daylight reading in my experience.

Also, I don't see anything anywhere in the settings about the automatic contrast adjustment. Maybe that feature was stripped out of the OS, last-minute, and components of it need to be turned on for a consistent display. This pure speculation / wishful thinking would be debunked by a single person not seeing the fringe on a white background, mind.

They really want to fix this issue. Amazon is scheduling a pickup for my HDX; the tech I spoke to is sending UPS to my house on Monday, to transport my device to a group of engineers who works closely with their group, to break it apart and try to figure out what went wrong with mine. I'm hopeful it is an issue with a relatively small batch of devices, so the replacement I receive won't suffer from it. If it does, I'm sure they will fix the issue pretty quickly.
