I have a Kindle, I think it's a Kindle 2. It has no hole in the rear to hard reset it that I can see.

The Kindle is totally frozen with the library list showing at the front. I've followed all of the soft and hard reset advise that i can find, 1) Soft reset hold the power slide button for a minute and then release. 2) Hold the power slide button then release and immediately press the home button.

Nothing seems to work! I'm almost at the point of cracking the thing open and trying to remove the battery!

Has anyone got any suggestions?

You can always contact Kindle support. They will try to help at no charge even when the device is out of warranty. Click on help at the top or bottom of any Amazon page. Click on the Contact Us button on the next page. Answer the questions and the correct contact info will be shown.

The hard reset for most units is to ensure Kindle is fully charged. Remove the charging cable. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (time it). Wait for the home screen to fully load. It may take a few minutes.

A few months ago I had the same thing happen. Customer service had me connect the Kindle to my PC and leave it of half an hour or so. I had never heard of that solution and was a little skeptical but I had nothing to lose. At some point during that time the Kindle reset itself and it's worked fine ever since.

I just spent 30 mins on the phone with Amazon support. Basically my Kindle is toast. So they offered me a refurbished devise. I took them up on the offer. Thanks for the help!

Found Quilting

Thank you soooo much for your tip. I plugged my 'dead' KK into my PC and after about 1/2 hour it started beeping and came up on my PC. Before long I was able to view files etc. I tentatively ejected it and found it's alive once again! I have a paperwhite but love my KK for its 3G and speaker benefits. This has been an awesome day!
