Have the Kindle Fire HD 7. Love It. Can you use the Kindle while charging. I have two ways to charge, the USB through the computer and also the fast 4 hour wall charger. Do you recommend using a car charger and which is a good one to purchase. Thanks Garsh

How many threads with the same question are you going to start? This is 3 now. Yes, you can use the Kindle while its charging. It will slow it down a bit but it can be done.

Yes, you can use a car charger. Any usb car charger will do, or see this page of results:

FWIW, I had (for six months) a Kindle Fire HD 7 that I'd been using while it charged - not all the time, but often enough (say an hour or so, every other day). Then it wouldn't start, would do anything, black screen only (the usual troubleshooting, reboot method did nothing).

The Amazon tech person who authorized a replacement said I may have been overcharging a nearly full battery using the Fire while it charged (I used the 9W Amazon fast charger, btw) and actually diminishing the battery life and was the most common source of battery failure. Keeping the device fully charged at all times may reduce battery life. (Unfortunately, I find conflicting opinions on this when I googled it).

Ironic that my trying to never be caught with a dead battery lead to my battery giving out after 6 months use.

Good afternoon,
Taylor, interesting point. I usually use until I get to about 40-59% battery life, charge and read on old kindle keyboard until fire is 100%.

I think I'll be doing that from now on : allowing the Fire to be at a lower charge and avoid using the device while charging. I think I'll no longer leave the Fire charging overnight also. Online advice is contradictory about all of this is but, at least, they don't say it hurts battery life not to charge to 100 percent. AFAIK. :)
