I am unable to connect to or read kindle books as the disk is full according to the kindle metro app.
Anyone else having this problem?
I have downloaded 4 books, but cannot get the rest of my library.

How much space is available? Could it be that you have filled all available space?

PJD says:
I have no idea, I cannot even work out where the books are stored, but the 256GB ssd I have in my slate has around 200GB free, so I am a bit lost.
I have installed the standard windows Kindle program, that has no such issue.

How much free space do you actually have on your hard drive?

Then Go to a "Kindle Support" page and click on the "Contact Us" button to talk/chat/email customer support for help.

A couple of things that could be causing this. None of the reading apps are for Win8. I am assuming that you have installed the reading app for Win7, Vista & XP. Even the phone app is for Win7.

Win8 (to the best of my knowledge) has not been released yet. Any beta version of a OS might cause unexpected results. From what I've been told Win 8 is totally different from Win7 so you may be running into compatibility issues.

I suggest trying to re-install the Win app and see if that helps. If it doesn't help, you can try a call to Kindle support but I doubt they can help with Win8.

Ok, I guess I should have clarified things first :-)
I have a release (not BETA) version of Windows 8, it comes with an MSDN account, it really is the final version, just not generally released yet.
The app is the METRO kindle app, the standard windows app is working flawlessly.
The metro app is the one playing up.
I guess I wil have to wait and see if anyone else has the same problem when windows 8 is generally released.

Philip, i have the msdn windows 8 too.... I'll try it tonight when I get home then update this post......

UPDATE: Ok, got home and tried it out. The app seemed to hang at displaying my Cloud library when I first tried running it. After about 5 minutes I stopped the app then re-started it and everything seemed to work fine. I could see all my books, started reading a few of them and no errors so far. If there's anything specific you'd like me to try, let me know.

I am having the same problem as Phillip with the Kindle Windows 8 Metro app from the Microsoft Windows App store. I can see all my book collection in the cloud but when I change to device and try to download the books it allows me to download 2 books and then while downloading the third book I get a "Disk Full" error from the Kindle app. I am running Windows 8 Professional (RTM). I have tried uninstalling the Kindle Metro app and reinstalling from the store with no change. I am a Windows software developer and something within the Kindle app is making it think the drive space is full but this tablet has 23GB free. There was an update for the app in the Windows store today but it still not fix this issue. Can someone please check the issue and fix it. Thanks...

I am also having the same problem with the Windows 8 app. It actually seems a good app, as text is very clear and a responsive interface. I'm using a laptop PC and separate monitor, but seems very quick and good quality including text books, with colour illustrations and photos. Maybe something that will be improved, but it seems the app has limited storage capacity, at the moment at least. There's not been much on the Internet yet about it. But it will be good when they get it sorted as it works well with reading on kindle devices linked by whisper synch with PC to continue reading between all kindles, tablets

I have the same problem here using the Surface and WindowsRT. I've downloaded 4 books to the device from the cloud and get the diskfull message halfway through the 5th book. Support at Kindle cannot help with this.

So how can we raise this to Amazon so that they try to fix the app?
Does anyone know how?

I have the same issue with over 100 gigs of space on my hard drive. Anyone find a solution yet?

Media Worker says:
I noticed that as well. I assume I'll have to chat with Amazon support because I have an abundance of disk space.

I sent a message to support, and got a reply back saying they will try to solve it, but I think more people should do that also.
I also pointed to this thread and asked them if they even bothered to search them to see what problems people were facing, no answer on that though :-)

Same problem here. Chatted with Amazon and after getting poor advice about to deregister and reregister this device (I don't think it can be done from within the Metro app, but can be done on the account page), I did just that. The problem resurfaced, suspect it may have something to do with an interrupted download.

I am having the same problem using windows 8 on an ultrabook - I have a large amount of HD space left, but was only able to download about 20 books or so.

Another thread on the issue ....

same issue, driving me nuts. I've reloaded kindle app for Win8 twice on a new ultrabook, downloaded books, they disappeared twice. Now it seems to be downloading, but 'disc full' message. There's 400Gb free on the hard drive.

Help please someone?
And where are the kindle books stored on Win8? They don't seem to appear anywhere.
