I've never used Wifi and want to know where I have to go to get internet/web access on a Kindle Fire, if I were to order one. I am very interested in it, and want to know if I have to pay additional fees for my internet access.

If you want to use it at home then you need a Wi-Fi router at home. You can buy such a router yourself from any electronics retailer from Best Buy to Walmart to Amazon. Wi-Fi routers are user configurable which means you can hook it up yourself.

Alternatively, you can talk to your ISP who would probably be able to help you with both the equipment and setting it up.

...or they can go to a WiFi hotspot such as a Macca's store or one of the many coffee stores that have it!

The OP is best to enquire with friends that are internet savy as to the best local ISP and sign up to a plan and get a wireless modem.

Thank you for your information. I have cable internet and I think I can exchange my current router for a wireless one. I will give that a try for at home use.

Thank you. That is what I will do. After reading your post and Pete's post I have decided to pre-order a Kindle Fire. I think they are nice and am excited about it.

Have a good day Malachi and Pete Down Under!

"In fact, what the heck are you doing commenting on an internet board asking that question?"

Excuse me?

I'm not NG but I was wondering the same thing? Maybe they got on the wrong board.

She says she has cable internet. You know, the kind where the high speed cable comes out of the wall and plugs into the computer? It's possible to watch Netflix movies on your computer. And many people with only one computer don't feel the need for a router.

How is it that you're installing all of these devices for people, yet are unaware that it's possible to have internet service without wifi? And why are you so HOSTILE about it?

I agree, Jenny. But some people just are naturally hostile for no reason at all. I actually appreciate the answers I saw to this question because I had the same answer. Not all of us are computer savvy and it's helpful to get the information from those who are.
