Windows 8 kindle app sync issue

I've found what seems to be a strange bug with the windows 8 kindle app. Basically if I read my book in the app and then hit sync it says that I'm at the furthest read point. If I then open the kindle app on any of my other devices it shows the previous furthest sync point. If I go back to the W8 app and then come out of the book and hit sync, then my other devices see the updated furthest read point.

Basically it seems like it only updates the furthest read point while not in the book. If I am in the book, clicking sync seems to check the furthest read point, but not update the location if the w8 app has read further.

I hope this makes sense....

Has anyone else seen this? and if so, how did you fix it? it's a real pain if I forget to manually come out of the book and click sync. I'd have thought that any time you come out of the app to go to the metro screen it would sync the book but it doesn't do that either.

I'm getting the same issue. I just bought a new windows 8 tablet and the Kindle app does not sync with my kindle fire or my windows phone. It seems like it just stores the location locally and doesn't sync with Amazon.

I have no clue how to fix it. Probably a bug in the app. It's a real shame.

Yes I also am having the same problem. Seems the windows 8 kindle app doesn't "push" the furthest read page back to amazon servers,

My problem is that after I purchase a book in the Windows 8 Kindle app, it doesn't appear on my kindle device. Is Anyone have the same problem or knows what to do about it?

Thanks.

Same issue. Really annoying. Seems like I'm discovering 1 or 2 of these annoying bugs in Windows 8 every single day. Starting to wish I'd just bought another Chromebook. Good grief.

Same issue here. Windows 8 Kindle App will not send back the furthest read location, nor will it check in for the furthest location. Pressing sync or exiting the app does nothing. I can see new books when I sync but it's not keeping up with the furthest read point.

I have checked that my PC is registered and activated in the Manage My Devices section.

I've got the same problem. I just downloaded "kindle for PC" and use that rather than the metro app, the software seems to sync back to the amazon servers fine.

You can try to manually push the book or item when you manage your profile. Did this and I got all the books.

same exact issue, read a few chapters on win8 kindle app then return to kindle at night and have to FF to latest read based on memory, not automatically. I've checked whisper sync is setup properly etc...

Well, I can just add "me too", quite annoying.

You are going to have to update your Windows device to 8.1. Did you not get the update?
All of mine updated and I am not having a problem. Just laptops and Windows phones. Not sure what all of you are reading on.

Nothing to do with the version of Windows. I'm on Windows 8.1 on two PCs and a tablet since before it was released to the general public and on Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 in the Windows Phone Developers Preview program. Problem is there alright.

Yup, me too on this one. It's actually been like this for me since I first got the Kindle app on Windows 8 almost 18 months ago but I'm finally getting around to commenting...

I have the same problem too.

I had the same issue, but was able to find a fix. On my Windows 8 machine, I had to go back to my libraries, select the book again, hit sync again. I then went to my other laptop that's running windows 7, hit sync, and this time it finally did catch those changes. Hope this helps

I have this same problem, however I noticed that if I go back to my library on the Win8.1 app prior to exiting, it seems to push it's current location and sync to the other devices...

Hope that helps.

I'm having the same problem. It's been months since this discussion started and no info from Amazon?

Same as John, if I go back to the library it syncs.
You think this should be easy to fix? Amazon?

Kindle app on windows 8 sucks. I can't jump back to the page I like. I see all these posts but no resolution. I am not sure what value my additional post creates.

Me too.
Glad to see I'm not as technologically retarded as my son says I am, because I've been working on this issue since I got 8.1 laptop last month.
