Where is my Kindle Fire HDX

This week's notice that the Kindle Fire HDX 7 4G LTE would not be delivered for another month was a major disappointment. I ordered this in mid-September and it was only on the day that it was due to arrive that Amazon bothered to let me know that they aren't making good on their delivery promise. What went wrong? And why are stores like Best Buy advertising the availability of the model I can't get from Amazon?

I would bet that Best Buy won't have any either. I suspect that the delay is due to delay in FCC clearance (due to the government shutdown) and/or production issues.

If you did not get a tracking number for a shipment, then it's most likely in a warehouse.

Yeah, but the question is why Amazon didn't notify people of a several week delay until the day it was scheduled to be delivered. There have been numerous reports of this happening.

Warehouse nventory system probably showed in stock/pending stock until the morning of, then when it updated to out of stock dates probably got altered accordingly.
