I have been looking for a tablet for a while now. I love the Kindle Fire HD 8.9, except for one item, the camera. I wish they had a rear facing camera also, not just the front facing camera. I ended up getting the Samsung Galaxy Tab3 8.0, just because it has both cameras, front facing and back. Does anyone know if there is a possibility the Kindle Fire HD will be getting a rear facing camera anytime soon?

Only Amazon knows and when/if they do, it'll be announced when the device is released.

The rumors on web searches say that the new hd 8.9 will have a rear facing camera but the 7" will not. Of course that's only a rumor.

I am quite content with the front facing camera. I have a real camera to take pictures .... holding up my 8.9 is just far too cumbersome. My great little Sony Cybershot works much better, easier to hold too

My son attended a kid's program this past weekend, and some woman was sitting in the audience holding up a tablet (larger than an 8.9 Fire/???), recording the performer.

It was very distracting; she had to hold it high enough to get the view, but low enough to not block the view of those directly behind her, but it was a raked house, so the people behind her to the left and right, she was still blocking their view.

It was awkward and annoying.

She would have hated me if I were behind her. I would be yelling and making all kinds of noise behind her until she put it down. She wouldn't have gotten any good sound from what she was filming.

Jazzy, once at a movie theater, a very tall man, sat right in front of - there were no other seats for me to move to, so the movie started & every which way I moved he moved to.

Then I noticed he was looking through the corners of his eyes to see where I was.

Finally, I couldn't take it anymore (like after 5 minutes, lol). So I pulled his hair - he said, wtf did you do that (with a few more choice words) & I said, "Well, all I could see was your head & your hair looked funny so I was just checking to see if it was toupee or something.

He slouched down & stopped moving into my view.

*Sorry, your post reminded me of that & I just had to share*

Parents at my Grandsons ballgames do it with large tablets all the time. The first time I saw it I couldn't figure out what they were doing. It looks funny but I have been sent some nice videos by them. I can't even get a good picture with my phone because I can't see the screen with the sun shining on it. I can't imagine trying to hold up a tablet.
