My First Generation Kindle Fire wont charge.

I am very frustrated. Haven't had enough charge to turn on my kindle for 3 days now. Anyone else having this same problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem. I have tried a new charger and that didn't seem to make any difference.

That's a known issue. Contact customer service to see if they'll help you out.

Call amazon Costumer service. They will send you a replacement kindle for free. Just make sure you send back the defective one. I've had to do this for my daughters kindle. They sent a new one and so far it's been charging fine. However I've wondered if he new kindle hd has any charging issues too cuz I'd like to buy it but really don't want to deal with the same charging issues on it as wellnn

She found the recording of the original call with Daniel where he states that it is a known issue, that new chargers were designed specifically to address the problem and that they would replace the Fires if the new charger didn't work. Now, even though she admitted that all of this information was in there, she said that Amazon would not do anything more then discount new product for me.

It is insulting to have a company know that they released a faulty product and their remedy to the situation is to ask you to buy more product from them in the hopes that it isn't complete junk this time around.

When Microsoft originally released the Xbox 360, issues arose because of poor design. They did the right thing by extending their warranty period in order to get the faulty product fixed. Amazon just turns their nose up and says "We acknowledge that we sold you a bad product, but give us some more money and maybe you'll have better luck".

The problem is the usb port. Search the internet to see if there is somewhere near you that repairs Kindles. You can get this fixed without buying a new one, but it is not a DIY type thing unless you have experience soldering electronics. I myself had this same issue and was disappointed that all Amazon offers is "buy a new one at a discount". I have no idea if they fixed this problem on the newer Kindles so that option was not attractive. I took it into a local place that fixes smartphones and Kindles, and they can repair it.

Many ebay sellers are offering a repair service on the charging port for $25-$35 which seems like a good deal to me if replacement is your only other option. Just search "Kindle Fire repair" on ebay. Any cell phone or computer repair should also be able to do the repair for you.

My wife is this moment on the phone with an Amazon rep trying to get satisfaction about her THIRD fire with this charging problem. The warranty ran ran out on her original two weeks ago. So far thEy aren't even offering a discount on a reppacement.

The same thing just happened to me! I am also furious! I have a 2nd generation that never had this problem but my first generation has had the same problem and been replaced as well. Guess what! That same KF is not charging again but for almost $130 they will send me another one since I am out of my warranty. What shameful customer service!

Did you hold the power button in for the 20 seconds that is recommended? I was having the same problem, and that did the trick. Make sure that it's plugged in when you do it.

Holding the button for 20 seconds works! Just did it today and even though 30 seconds prior to that my KF was at 14% battery capacity, it is now fully charged. Weird, but happy its working again.
