Hello everyone! Please forgive my ignorance as I am not really knowledgeable of all the tech specs that e readers and tablets have. Last year I was given a Kindle 3G Wifi for the holiday season and I really enjoyed the experience. My only problem was that browsing the internet was entirely too slow (despite the fact that I had a provider) and I was unable to watch videos on Youtube.

I am thinking about purchasing a Kindle fire this year but I have some questions.

Will I be able to browse and watch videos on youtube?

Will I be able to view my emails on gmail (without it being too slow)

Will I be able to browse the internet much more faster since there will no longer be a 3G on Kindle fire?

You should be able to watch YouTube using the Silk browser on the Fire.

The Fire has a built-in email app - read about it on the Fire's product page.

You will be able to browse the internet if you have a wifi connection - read about it on the Fire's product page.

Actually there is an android app just for Youtube and it works very well. Eliminates the need to open the browser and go to the Youtube web site. It is available in the Amazon App Store.

No there isn't... neither on Amazon App Store nor on the actual device...

You can sideload the youtube app and it is supposed to work. I saw a youtube video on a K-Fire review where they did that....and it worked.

They downloaded the free app to dropbox and then uploaded to Kindle. Seemed to work.

Can you use instant chat on Facebook with the Kindle Fire? Also, do I understand correctly that you must have a wi-fi connection to browse the web and use facebook? We have a router at home but when we go home to our parents, they don't. Does that mean I would not be able to use it at my parents house or in the car? Thank you! :)

I purchased the kindle fire recently in Miami on vacation. I was able to access youtube without any issues. Now I'm back home in the Caribbean and I am getting a message stating that the video cannot be viewed. Is there a setting that I have to change, now that I'm back home? Also I have wi-fi at home. Thank you.

Correct. No WiFi, no connection.

L. Nicholls, you can't use the streaming outside of the USA. That is why it says "US only" on the product page.

Thank you Amelio but is there a way to work around this? As I would like to access youtube via my fire! Also purchasing from the Amazon App store is limited to non existent. Thanks for your feedback.

I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and had no problems with youtube until two days ago. Now I keep getting an error message and can't view anything. How do I fix this?

If you're watching YouTube with the Kindle Fire web browser and you have problems, go into the browser's settings and turn off "acceleration." This will let your Fire directly contact the website without going through Amazon's proxy servers, which may be causing the problem.

Thank you Cyriacus!! I just followed the instructions from the link you provided and it worked perfectly. I just had to turn on the enabling of downloading apps that aren't Amanzon applications. :)

Same thing with my kindle fire the video quality is horrible on youtube and I thought it was my kindle so I reset and that was a horrible idea cause the videos still look like crape. I hope amazon fixes this in the next update and they better do it soon.

If you refresh the page enough anything will play. Still, this needs to be addressed.
