The Fire does not have text to speech. The kindle touch and kindle keyboard do that. All kindles allows you to increase the size of the font. The largest sizes is very large. There isn't a percentage or a x16 (for example) to say exactly how large the letters are.

There are several children's book apps in the app store. These have several options of how to read to you I believe. Here is the link to Green Eggs and Ham. Green Eggs and Ham - Dr. Seuss

m.: More details would help. What app? What Kindle? What are you trying to do?

I am attending a Bible study and we take turns reading scripture passages. My voice quality is poor. Will the Kindle Touch read a specific scripture passage?

I think you really will want to hear the text to speech function first. It's not on the Fire but it is on my Touch. I really don't care for the robotic sound. (It sounds good for a computer, though) If you get a Fire you can use Audible app or install overdrive to get mp3 books from the library. The text can be enlarged on either device.

Yes, Mr. Roosevelt. That will work.

Thank you so much Nathan. I just bought a Fire 3 days ago and was searching through the "book" category to find text to speech enabled books for my 2yr old. Then I saw that you said they are apps (the demo Fire in the store had One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish downloaded on it) not books!! That was soo helpful for me and it has been driving me crazy! I had no idea it was an App! Thanks again! Your a life saver!

On my Kindle Touch, at the maximum zoom I see each letter about a half inch (one centimeter) tall. About the size of a medium newspaper headline.

Green Eggs and Ham - Dr. Seuss

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish - Dr. Seuss

Fox In Socks - Dr. Seuss

I Just Forgot - Little Critter

Just Me and My Mom - Little Critter

The You Version Bible App is free at Amazon.com and it allows you to have certain versions of the Bible read aloud.

I bought the kindle fire for my son for his birthday to help him with his reading, because the sales person at the store told me it would help him just like the stories at the store. I have yet to find an app that has the books with the reading that he can use. He is 7 and this now sits on a table at my house. Only got it 2 weeks ago! I did ask the sales person about my older relatives being able to use it with poor sight etc..and same answer YES! well, no it doesn't. I'm here to tell you one mom to another not good for your child!

Although the rhythm, rimes, and words of Seuss are always fun, by age seven, many children are ready to more into more advanced reading.

I find it amazing that Amazon's TTS marketing decision has effectively forced many parents of children with disabilities to find other products for their children. What a missed marketing opportunity.

wich verson of kindle can read books out loud without having to buy the audio book of every book

Artist says:
Mlamoreaux, ALL of the ones that read out loud sound like a robot because it's a computer program reading the words. If you want professional narration, you have to buy the audio book.
