Sarida says:

Tell us which device you have.

What have you already tried to rectify the problem?

Tell us which device you have.

If you do not live in the United States, please say. We have posters from all over the world who could be helpful to you if we just knew.

Please remember the more information you provide the more likely you will find people to help you.

Be polite. We are customers just like you. We do not work for Amazon.
If someone is rude to you, just click the "ignore this person" button on their post. Move on.

And please tell us which device you have. Simply saying "My Kindle won't work" is not sufficient.

Thank you.

Also, if you searched Google to arrive at the Kindle Forum you're about to post in, you could have, instead, searched Google for the answer to the question you're about to ask that has probably already been answered.

And/Or, please read at least the last 2 pages of the thread before posting the question that may have already been answered previously.

I think I've asked "What device?" more since Christmas than the last three years I have been on this forum.

A lot of that is Amazon's fault for naming the Fire the "Kindle" Fire. Let the Fires be Fires and the Kindles be Kindles!

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 12, 2014 5:28:48 AM PST
I've said it at least a dozen times, and I'll say it again: I really wish it had been called the "Amazon Fire". It's *NOT* a Kindle. It's just not.

Also when posting on a thread already started please pay attention to the dates of the posts. You may be responding to a question that is no longer relevant.

Not only that but please tell us what device you have!

Saying "I have a Kindle" is like walking into a tire store and saying, "I have a car."

Not all tires are the same and not all kindles are the same.

Perhaps identifying your Kindle model will help these helpful people help you.

Why is no one helping me fix my Kendel?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 12, 2014 10:13:34 PM PST
Probably because none of us have one. We all have kindles :-)

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 12, 2014 10:14:14 PM PST
If it's a Kendel, it probably just needs a Barbie app.

Hey, pal, even Kendels get lonely! Don't blame me! There's an app for what ails it.

CBRetriever says:
and tell us what isn't working - my kindle isn't working doesn't help us provide an answer

and please be aware that this is not Customer Service - Amazon will not:

1. call or email you if you ask them to do so here
2. provide an official answer to something
3. tell you in advance about something that Amazon has not officially announced or about product in developement
4. respond to any rants

Sarida says:

Because I'm seeing a lot of new questions that don't include telling WHICH device you have!

"How do I get this Kindle to work?" doesn't give us enough information. Sorry!

Josue says:
My biggest gripe about new posters is their need to type the whole explanation in the title field. It's best to keep the title short and then the full explanation on the post itself not as the title.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 28, 2014 2:32:48 PM PDT
Mine is their apparent willingness to post all of the personal information they can think of - full names, phone numbers, order numbers - all the things they shouldn't post on public boards, instead of the information we would need to actually help them.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 28, 2014 2:35:12 PM PDT
Sarida says:
I agree! That is dangerous! Which is why they have to understand we are NOT customer service!

Just Peachy says:
That is especially disturbing on the help forums where it tells you to NOT post those things.
