I purchased the English-Russian Slovoed dictionary to use for lookup from within text. The listing says "Set Slovoed dictionary as your default Kindle dictionary under Menu->Settings". Doesn't seem to be possible in the iPad Kindle app. Can anyone confirm? Can anyone say why Amazon sells a book with this description but cannot be used as advertised?

because it can be set as a default dictionary on a Kindle - Kindle apps and the Kindle Fire are totally different devices and it's also impossible to use that books as a default dictionary on a Kindle Fire

Isn't it odd that the more expensive and the more featured rich Kindle Fire can't do what Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Basic can?

not really - one's a dedicated ebook reader and the other's a multimedia device

no dictionaries can be set as default dictionaries on any Kindle Fires, plus you can't look words up on it like you can on an e-ink kindle on a kindle Frei (you need a dictionary app)

I'd suggest that you return it for a refund from your Manage Your Kindle page

and this might be good for you: Touch Bible (KJV + Strong's with Audio)

or this: ESV Bible Study

Thanks, CBR, for the recommendation of the ESV BibleRreader app. I'd never seen it before. I use ESV Study Bible for my bible study and this app is a perfect complement to it.
